PMS 7606 C is a standardized color from the Pantone PMS collection, used extensively in visual branding and specification workflows. The color conveys an accessible, understated, and grounded character, with a muted, warm vibe. It is often described as earthy, subdued, and reliable.

PMS 7606 C has a light-medium darkness, with an LRV of 37.0.

The color appears warm, with a clear red base influenced by an earthy undertone.

This color demonstrates moderate chroma, producing a muted and less saturated appearance compared to vivid reds.

Undertones in PMS 7606 C are generally perceived as brownish or clay-like, reinforcing its grounded quality.

The visual effect of PMS 7606 C can shift noticeably with changes in finish or gloss, with matte finishes producing a more subdued appearance and gloss increasing the perceived saturation.

PMS 7606 C works well where a muted red is needed to convey warmth without overwhelming vibrancy, such as in branded retail fixtures or marketing displays targeting an approachable feel.

Careful consideration should be given to lighting and substrate, as both can influence whether the earthy undertones or red elements are more pronounced.

Compared to more chromatic reds, PMS 7606 C generally maintains a neutral, reliable impression and is less likely to appear overly bold, but may require multiple coats for uniform coverage due to its moderate chroma.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 7607 C – Slightly darker and deeper, providing a stronger earthy quality.
  • PMS 7599 C – Redder and more chromatic, with less brown undertone, appearing more vivid.
  • PMS 7523 C – Lighter and more neutral, with reduced warmth and less saturation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7606 C

How do I confirm I am ordering the correct color reference for PMS 7606 C?

Pantone color codes like PMS 7606 C may include suffixes such as C (Coated), U (Uncoated), or other series identifiers. These suffixes specify how the color should appear on different substrates. Before ordering PMS 7606 C, verify the full color code used in your brand standards or specification documents. Using the correct suffix ensures alignment with the intended target, especially for projects where exact color appearance is critical.

Should I order PMS 7606 C paint in an interior or exterior formulation?

When ordering PMS 7606 C, choose the paint type based on where the finished piece will be placed. For projects that will remain indoors, select an interior formulation, which emphasizes smooth finish and visual effect. For any outdoor projects or displays exposed to the elements, use an exterior paint type for added durability and color retention. Select the option during ordering to match your use case for best results.

How can I keep results consistent if I need more PMS 7606 C paint for future projects?

To achieve the most consistent results with PMS 7606 C across multiple orders, always use the same product type, finish, and application method, and reference the same Pantone code each time. Color appearance can shift if you switch between formats (such as spray paint to house paint) or between matte and gloss. If you have a specific approval or standard, continue using it for all orders to maintain visual consistency over time.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7606 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
