Pantone® PMS 7581 C is part of the Pantone Matching System professional color collection. This color presents as a dark, complex teal with a subdued yet assertive vibe. It is frequently described as stable, professional, grounded, and functional, with an understated sophistication suitable for applications where credibility and modernity are important visual signals.

PMS 7581 C appears distinctly dark, supported by its low LRV value of 10.21. The color has a cool undertone, exhibiting more blue than green when compared to other teals. The chroma is moderate, producing noticeable but not vivid saturation. This color features subtle grayish undertones that dampen brightness, contributing to its muted effect. PMS 7581 C can show notable shifts depending on finish, appearing richer in gloss and flatter in matte applications.

PMS 7581 C works well in environments demanding a confident but not overpowering brand presence, such as trade show displays, branded architectural features, and wayfinding elements. Due to its cool and muted attributes, it resists appearing dated or overly trendy. Watch for lighting conditions that may exaggerate the blue or green elements; always view samples in situ and under actual lighting before sign-off. Compared to brighter or cleaner teals, PMS 7581 C will conceal surface imperfections better but may require multiple coats for true opacity, especially in high-traffic or exterior applications.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 7474 C: Lighter, with a higher chroma and more noticeable blue-green vibrancy.
  • PMS 5463 C: Darker and more intensely blue, with less green content and a more neutral quality.
  • PMS 7717 C: Brighter, with less grayness and a distinctly cleaner turquoise appearance.
  • PMS 7720 C: Slightly warmer and lighter, showing a more pronounced green undertone.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7581 C

How durable is Pantone PMS 7581 C spray paint for branded displays and what can affect its longevity?

The durability of Pantone PMS 7581 C spray paint depends on several factors, including surface preparation, the type of substrate, topcoat selection, and the environmental conditions where the item will be used. For high-traffic or exterior displays, proper prep and an added clear topcoat can help protect color quality and finish. Indoors or away from UV and moisture, PMS 7581 C in spray paint generally maintains its appearance well. Always specify the intended use and environment when ordering to select the right paint type and finish for your needs.

What should I expect in terms of hide and coverage when applying Pantone PMS 7581 C, and do I need a special undercoat?

Pantone PMS 7581 C is a dark, moderately saturated teal that usually hides surface imperfections better than brighter colors, but because of its depth and undertone, you may need more than one coat for full and even color, especially over light substrates. Using a gray or mid-tone undercoat can speed coverage and help achieve a more uniform result. For brand installations or exhibits, a sample or test panel is recommended to confirm coverage and appearance before full production.

Why is it important to specify Pantone PMS 7581 C for sign, display, and exhibit fabrication?

Pantone PMS 7581 C is used as a brand-standard color target to ensure visual consistency for logos, displays, and fabricated elements. Specifying this Pantone code helps align expectations between designers, clients, and fabricators. Because the color can shift depending on substrate and finish, it is good practice to review a sample painted on the actual material before approving for production. This helps prevent miscommunication and ensures the brand color is accurately represented in the final installation.

What types of products are available in Pantone PMS 7581 C, and how do I choose the right format?

Pantone PMS 7581 C is available in several product formats, including custom spray paint, paint pens, brush-in-cap bottles, epoxy, urethane, and housepaint options. Your choice should be based on the application and surface involved. Spray paint is efficient for displays and architectural features, while pens and bottles suit prototyping or detail work. If you are coating complex or exterior surfaces, consult with the supplier to match performance and appearance needs. Always confirm the format fits your project timelines and visual requirements.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 7581 C?

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7581 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 7581 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 7581 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
