PMS 5463 C from the Pantone PMS collection is a very dark, muted blue-green with a technical, stable, and understated character. Its low reflectance value gives it a sophisticated and corporate presence, making it suitable for brand environments that require a visually strong but not flamboyant color. The color's subdued appearance conveys reliability and professionalism in high-impact graphic contexts.

- PMS 5463 C is very dark in appearance, with an LRV of 1.56. - The color tends toward the cooler side, with prominent blue undertones and secondary green notes. - This color exhibits low to medium chroma, resulting in a subdued, controlled visual impression. - PMS 5463 C contains muted teal undertones, contributing to its depth without vibrancy. - The color is sensitive to finish and will appear deeper and more intense in gloss or satin, while appearing softer in matte finishes.

PMS 5463 C is best used where a deep, restrained blue-green is needed for branding, corporate environments, or displays that require an authoritative yet versatile dark tone. In application, users should be aware that this color may appear nearly black in low light or when applied in high-gloss finishes. It is sensitive to shifts in lighting, and the subtle green content becomes more apparent in daylight or cool artificial light. This color generally offers good opacity but may need additional coats on lighter substrates to achieve a uniform appearance. Evaluate with both a physical Pantone swatch and a painted sample in the intended lighting and finish.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 5463 C

How is PMS 5463 C used in sign, display, and exhibit fabrication?

PMS 5463 C is often specified as a brand color target for signage, displays, and exhibit elements where color consistency matters between components, vendors, or materials. When working with PMS 5463 C in fabrication, treat the Pantone code as a visual reference standard. Since this deep blue-green is sensitive to finish and lighting, it is important to sample the color on your actual substrate and confirm appearance under typical installation lighting before full production. This helps ensure the color meets brand expectations and avoids surprises in the finished environment.

Where can I find the SDS for paint matched to Pantone PMS 5463 C?

The Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for paint matched to PMS 5463 C depends on the type of paint or product you select, not just the Pantone color code. To find the correct SDS, identify the specific paint product you are ordering and look for the SDS library provided on the product detail page. If you need help locating it, contact customer support with your order details and product type.

What should I expect for batch to batch consistency if I reorder PMS 5463 C paint?

For repeat orders of PMS 5463 C, use the same paint type and sheen as your previous batch for the best consistency. Always approve color against the same physical standard, such as a Pantone swatch or a retained painted sample. Factors like finish (gloss, matte) and substrate can impact the perceived color. Minor differences may occur between batches, so sample each new batch before large-scale application if the project requires a critical color match.

How do I choose the right paint type for PMS 5463 C for interior versus exterior applications?

When specifying PMS 5463 C for your project, choose the paint type based on whether the finished items will be used indoors or outdoors. For interior applications, select a paint formulated for indoor use. For items exposed to sun, rain, or harsh conditions, choose an exterior-grade paint for better durability. Always confirm that the product meets your installation and performance needs, and review samples to verify the appearance in the intended environment.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 5463 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 5463 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 5463 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
