Pantone™ PMS 7474 C

The perceived color of Pantone PMS 7474 C can change significantly under different lighting sources. Cool or warm lighting, and natural or artificial environments, may cause PMS 7474 C to look more blue, green, or muted. For the most reliable results, view and evaluate samples of PMS 7474 C in the actual lighting and conditions where the finished piece will be seen. This helps ensure brand alignment and avoids surprises after installation.

The PMS 7474 C color in a Pantone book is a reference target, not a paint or material swatch. Matching this color in paint can produce visible differences due to sheen, substrate, and coating system. Painted samples may appear glossier, flatter, lighter, or darker than the swatch in the Pantone guide. For projects that require close alignment with Pantone PMS 7474 C, test your intended paint and finish on the actual substrate and confirm appearance under real project conditions.

To achieve reliable results when painting metal or powder-coated parts in PMS 7474 C, surface preparation is critical. Clean, degloss, and lightly scuff the existing finish to promote adhesion. Variations in underlying coatings, existing gloss, or metallic substrates can alter the final appearance of PMS 7474 C. Evaluate a sample panel before full production to confirm color and finish meet your brand requirements.

Using a primer beneath PMS 7474 C can improve adhesion and even color coverage, especially on bare metal, plastic, or dissimilar substrates. Primer may also help achieve the target color uniformity, particularly with this deep, saturated hue. The decision to use a primer depends on your substrate and exposure conditions; check the compatibility of your chosen paint system and refer to primer guidance for your specific project type.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
