PMS 2363 C is a standardized color in the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection. Visually, it is a striking, deep violet with a cool, bold, and graphic character. The overall vibe is technical, impactful, intense, and contemporary, making it suited for environments demanding clear color communication and precise brand alignment.

PMS 2363 C appears dark, with a low light reflectance value (LRV 11.6), indicating limited brightness. The color has a cool tendency, reading as a blue-leaning violet. This color presents very high saturation, resulting in strong visual presence and vividness. PMS 2363 C includes subtle blue undertones, which become more prominent under daylight or cool artificial light. The perceived richness and depth can shift noticeably depending on finish; glossier finishes will accentuate chroma, while matte finishes may mute vibrancy.

PMS 2363 C functions well where a commanding, consistent violet is needed for signage, displays, or branded elements, particularly in settings with cool or neutral lighting. Care should be taken with surface preparation and number of coats, as its high chroma and deep shade may show substrate variations or require multiple layers for full coverage. The color is sensitive to both finish and light temperature: gloss increases perceived saturation, while warm lighting may diminish its cool, blue-violet character. Relative to similar violets, PMS 2363 C is deeper, more saturated, and maintains a strong visual identity even under variable lighting.

Similar colors:
PMS 267 C — Slightly lighter and less saturated; reads as a more subdued violet.

PMS 2736 C — Brighter and bluer; has a higher chromatic intensity and less darkness.

PMS 2685 C — Marginally warmer in tone and not as dark or intense as PMS 2363 C.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2363 C

What does it mean to order PMS 2363 C in paint, and what should I not expect from a Pantone PMS match?

When you order paint for PMS 2363 C, you are requesting a color that visually matches the Pantone PMS 2363 C standard. This ensures the finished paint aligns with Pantone's widely used color specification for consistent brand and marketing results. However, a Pantone PMS match is not a specific paint formula or process. Factors like substrate, finish, and lighting may affect appearance. The Pantone reference is a visual target, not a guarantee of identical results across all materials or finishes.

What should I consider when using PMS 2363 C paint on plastic or low energy surfaces?

When applying PMS 2363 C paint to plastic or other low-surface-energy materials, substrate compatibility is critical. Plastics vary in how well they accept coatings, and you may need a specialized adhesion primer or surface treatment to achieve optimal results. It is best practice to test the paint and primer system on your specific plastic before proceeding with production or installation, as adhesion and final appearance can differ widely across materials.

Why is PMS 2363 C often specified for sign, display, or exhibit fabrication projects?

PMS 2363 C is frequently chosen for sign, display, and exhibit fabrication because it is a standard Pantone color used to ensure brand consistency across multiple elements and vendors. Fabricators rely on Pantone references to meet visual brand requirements for marketing and public-facing installations. For the most accurate outcome, plan to review a painted sample of PMS 2363 C on the real substrate and under installation lighting before full production, as finish and material can influence the final look.

When is selecting a standard PMS 2363 C match the right choice for my project?

Ordering a standard PMS 2363 C match is appropriate for projects where visual brand alignment is key, such as marketing displays, temporary exhibits, prototypes, and signage. These situations benefit from using the Pantone reference as the target color. It is less suitable for applications requiring precise touch-up or repair to a previously coated surface, or when matching multiple materials where a custom sample might be needed to confirm the exact appearance.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 2363 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 2363 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 2363 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 2363 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
