PMS 2284 C is a Pantone Matching System color that registers as a lively, chromatic green. This color is classified within the Pantone PMS collection, designed for applications where precise color consistency across materials and production runs is necessary. The overall vibe of PMS 2284 C is clean, vivid, contemporary, and assertive, making it suitable for applications where both freshness and visual clarity are needed.

PMS 2284 C has a moderately light appearance, supported by an LRV of 58.65. The color presents a cool tendency, with its visual temperature leaning toward the cool spectrum of green. The color is highly saturated and has strong chromatic intensity. PMS 2284 C demonstrates a clear green undertone without significant yellow or blue bias. The appearance can shift noticeably depending on finish, with higher gloss finishes intensifying the chroma.

PMS 2284 C is effective in scenarios where a clean and saturated green is required for visibility, theming, brand activations, or wayfinding elements. Users should verify appearance using a physical Pantone guide and a paint sample on the target substrate, as perceived vibrancy can increase in high-gloss or well-lit conditions and may diminish in matte finishes or dim lighting. Compared to other bright greens, PMS 2284 C maintains more chroma and a cooler undertone, providing both impact and brand clarity without being overly warm or yellowed.

PMS 2274 C – Slightly lighter and less saturated, offering a softer appearance.

PMS 2426 C – Darker and deeper, with more visual weight and a subdued effect.

PMS 2291 C – Cooler with a bluish undertone, less chromatic intensity.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2284 C

What does it mean to order paint matched to Pantone PMS 2284 C?

When you order paint matched to Pantone PMS 2284 C, you are purchasing paint that is formulated to visually match the standardized Pantone reference for that color. Pantone PMS 2284 C is a color target, not a specific paint formula, coating system, or sheen. The goal is to deliver a color that aligns visually with the PMS 2284 C reference under standard lighting and viewing conditions. Because PMS colors are reference standards and not material specifications, performance and appearance can vary based on substrate, finish, and lighting. Always confirm color acceptance with a sample on your actual material when precise brand alignment is required.

How should I prepare a surface for painting with Pantone PMS 2284 C?

Proper surface preparation is critical for achieving a visually accurate and durable result with Pantone PMS 2284 C paint. Start by thoroughly cleaning the surface to remove dust, dirt, grease, or residues. For glossy or very smooth surfaces, lightly scuff or sand the area to promote adhesion. Make sure the surface is dry before painting. It is strongly recommended to test the paint on a small, representative area of your substrate to confirm appearance and compatibility before full application, especially when critical brand color alignment is needed.

Why does Pantone PMS 2284 C look different under various lighting conditions?

The appearance of Pantone PMS 2284 C can shift noticeably depending on the lighting environment. Colors like PMS 2284 C, which are vivid and highly saturated, may appear brighter or more intense in natural daylight and cooler or muted under fluorescent or incandescent lighting. Always evaluate and approve your PMS 2284 C paint sample under the actual lighting conditions where it will be used to ensure the color meets your expectations for brand consistency and visual impact.

How does the choice of sheen affect the appearance of Pantone PMS 2284 C paint?

The sheen or gloss level you select for PMS 2284 C paint will significantly affect its visual impact. High gloss finishes can increase the brightness and perceived chromatic intensity of this green, making it look more vivid and saturated. Matte or flat finishes will reduce glare but may make the color appear less vibrant. Consider where and how PMS 2284 C will be viewed when selecting a sheen, and, if possible, test your preferred sheen on the final substrate to confirm it delivers the intended appearance for your brand or display application.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 2284 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
