PMS 2271 C is part of the Pantone PMS collection, a standardized system widely used for brand specification and environmental graphics. This color is best described as a vibrant, chromatic green with a distinctly clean and energetic character. It reads as modern, bold, assertive, and is geared toward settings where visual clarity and immediate recognition are priorities.

PMS 2271 C exhibits a mid-level lightness, with moderate brightness (LRV 35.76), not overly dark or washed out. The color leans strongly cool, with a clear green hue and a subtle blue undertone that keeps it crisp. It demonstrates high chroma for pronounced saturation, giving it strong visual presence without appearing fluorescent. The undertone is fresh and slightly blue, resulting in a technical and contemporary feel. This color may reveal additional intensity as gloss or sheen levels increase, so finish selection will noticeably impact appearance.

PMS 2271 C is operationally effective when vivid, unmistakable green is critical for branding or marketing installations, especially where immediate visual differentiation matters. The high saturation delivers excellent stand-out in digital and physical displays but requires care with surface prep and even application, as any unevenness or improper substrate can impact color uniformity. Lighting conditions, particularly under LED or daylight-spectrum lights, can amplify the blue-green undertone. Compared to similar greens, PMS 2271 C is more saturated and cooler—useful when a neutral or yellowed green would not achieve the intended visual function.

Similar colors:
PMS 2270 C: Similar in hue but lighter and slightly more yellow, providing a softer and less chromatic green.

PMS 7738 C: Darker and less chromatic, resulting in a more subdued and earthier green.

PMS 3405 C: Slightly warmer due to a yellow undertone and similar in value, creating a more natural green appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2271 C

How is PMS 2271 C typically used for sign, display, and exhibit fabrication?

PMS 2271 C is often specified as a brand-standard target for fabrication of signs, displays, and exhibits that require color consistency across various materials. Using this Pantone color ensures your fabricated elements align with approved brand guidelines. For best results, sample the color on the actual substrate before full production since the final appearance can vary depending on material, application method, and sheen.

What product formats are available for Pantone PMS 2271 C and how should I choose?

PMS 2271 C is available in custom spray paint, paint pens, brush-in-cap bottles, and select coatings such as epoxy or urethane where offered. Choose the format that matches your project's needs: spray paint for larger surfaces and even application, paint pens or brush-in-cap bottles for small details or touch-ups during initial fabrication (not post-installation maintenance). For brand and marketing installations, select the format that provides the required finish and durability on your intended substrate.

What should I expect when comparing PMS 2271 C paint to a Pantone book reference?

Pantone books provide a visual color reference on specific paper stocks and should be used as a target, not a guarantee of appearance on other materials. When PMS 2271 C paint is applied, the final look will depend on substrate, sheen, and lighting conditions. Colors may appear more intense with higher gloss. Always sample the actual paint on your chosen substrate to confirm visual alignment with the Pantone book under the project's typical lighting.

When is it recommended to sample PMS 2271 C before full production?

Sampling PMS 2271 C is highly recommended for high-visibility brand projects, large installations, or whenever the appearance must be approved by stakeholders. Factors such as surface material, gloss level, and lighting can noticeably affect the perceived color. Sampling helps ensure that your finished display matches brand expectations and reduces risk before committing to a full production run.

Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 2271 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
