Pantone™ PMS 2197 C

For installations using PMS 2197 C in pop-ups and retail settings, always test samples of the paint in the actual environment and lighting where it will be viewed. Lighting can significantly affect how PMS 2197 C appears, so evaluate color under both direct and ambient light found in your space. Plan for finish selection as higher gloss can intensify color and increase visibility. For high-traffic or hands-on areas, assess durability needs and select a compatible topcoat if additional protection is required. Review the final color in the intended location before full production to ensure it aligns with your brand standards and delivers consistent results across all displays and components.

PMS 2197 C is a moderately saturated blue and may require extra planning for coverage, especially over contrasting or dark substrates. Using an appropriate undercoat, such as a white or light gray primer, can improve color uniformity and reduce the number of coats needed. For large areas or highly visible elements, apply samples first to assess how many coats achieve solid, even color. Planning for at least two coats is common for brand-bright shades like PMS 2197 C. Always test in your specific application setup before committing to a large order.

The durability of spray paint made to match PMS 2197 C depends on the type of paint selected, surface preparation, and the environment where it will be used. For best results, surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned and properly primed before painting. If the installation will be exposed to frequent touching or cleaning, or located in a high-traffic area, consider using a protective clear topcoat to help preserve the finish. Choose the paint formulation that aligns with your exposure needs, such as interior versus exterior, and always test in your specific use case to confirm that the durability meets your project requirements.

PMS 2197 C is intended for achieving consistent brand color on new displays, signage, or marketing installations, not for touch-up or repair. If you require a very precise match for an existing item, especially if the surface has aged or has a unique finish, send a physical part to be matched instead of ordering by Pantone code. This ensures the closest possible match for restoration situations. For brand reproduction and new fabrication, using the Pantone PMS 2197 C reference is appropriate.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
