Pantone™ PMS 2176 C

Pantone PMS 2176 C may appear differently on various substrates because materials absorb, reflect, and scatter light in unique ways. Surface texture, porosity, and sheen all affect how this mid-blue is perceived once applied. For example, a matte fabric may subdue the color, while a glossy plastic can make it appear brighter and more saturated. Always review samples of PMS 2176 C on your actual substrate and under your intended lighting conditions to ensure the final result meets brand expectations.

When using Pantone PMS 2176 C on metal or over powder-coated surfaces, proper surface preparation is important for accurate color appearance and adhesion. Scuff or clean all parts to remove contaminants or gloss, since existing coatings and substrate gloss can alter the perceived color and coverage. PMS 2176 C does not reliably convert to colors in other paint company collections. Each brand has its own palette and formulation methods, which means even similar-looking codes may differ in undertone, chroma, or lightness. For brand or marketing work, it is best to specify and order PMS 2176 C by its Pantone code to ensure you target the correct reference and avoid unintended color shifts.

Ordering a standard Pantone PMS 2176 C match is recommended for brand-facing displays, signage, exhibit components, prototypes, and marketing installations where the Pantone reference is the required color target. This approach is ideal when your primary goal is to achieve visually accurate, brand-consistent results, rather than exact touch-up or substrate-specific repair. Always review samples as finish and lighting can affect the final appearance.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
