Pantone™ PMS 2185 C

The finish you select for Pantone PMS 2185 C can significantly change its perceived brightness and visual impact. Gloss or high-sheen finishes will enhance the color's saturation and make PMS 2185 C appear deeper and more vibrant. Satin provides a balanced look, while matte finishes will slightly mute the color, causing it to look less intense and altering how much light is reflected. For brand-critical projects, it is best to review samples of PMS 2185 C in the planned finish and lighting, as these factors strongly affect final appearance and brand alignment.

A typical spray can of PMS 2185 C paint covers about 20 to 25 square feet per coat under ideal conditions. Coverage will decrease on rough or absorbent surfaces and if multiple coats are needed. Because PMS 2185 C is a deep, highly saturated color, you may require more coats for full hide than with lighter colors, especially over light bases. For accurate estimating, measure your project's surface area, plan for at least two coats, and consider surface texture. Always order extra to allow for coverage variation and test spraying.

Pantone PMS 2185 C is not recommended for touch-up on existing coatings or brand elements. The Pantone system specifies color but does not define finish, substrate, or application method, all of which affect the final appearance. Differences in gloss, surface texture, and aging can produce visible mismatches, even if the color code is the same. For existing items, do not rely on PMS 2185 C as a touch-up or repair reference.

A primer is usually recommended when applying PMS 2185 C to bare, porous, glossy, or previously coated surfaces that may not ensure good adhesion. Using a primer improves durability, provides a uniform base, and helps the saturated color achieve its intended look with fewer coats. For best practice, review the paint format's substrate guidelines and test PMS 2185 C on your intended surface before full application.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
