PMS 2118 C is a Pantone Matching System (PMS) color known for its strong, vivid magenta-violet appearance. The color conveys a modern, assertive, and energetic vibe, frequently perceived as bold, attention-grabbing, and creative. It is used where consistent, visually striking color reproduction is essential, and it tends to register as rich and intense under most viewing conditions.
PMS 2118 C appears dark, with low light reflectance (LRV: 4.66). The color presents a cool undertone, with a strong blue-magenta hue quality. Saturation level is vivid and high, resulting in very pronounced color presence. The color displays a noticeable magenta-violet undertone that intensifies in direct lighting. PMS 2118 C is sensitive to finish sheen: gloss can heighten perceived brightness and saturation, while matte finishes may subdue the vibrance.
PMS 2118 C works well where a dramatic, ultra-saturated magenta-violet is required to achieve visual impact or strict adherence to a brand palette. Its low lightness means it can become even richer in semigloss or gloss finishes, but may read flatter in matte. Deep, saturated colors like PMS 2118 C may require additional coats for uniform coverage, and surface preparation is important to prevent uneven absorption. Color may appear different depending on lighting type and intensity, so always evaluate with a physical sample in intended conditions. Compared to similar saturated purples or magentas, this color will generally appear deeper and cooler.
Similar colors:
PMS 2415 C – Slightly lighter and shows a warmer, more magenta tone.
PMS 241 C – Lighter and moderately less saturated; appears softer.
PMS 2100 C – Deeper and more blue-violet, resulting in a cooler overall impression.
PMS 2425 C – Similar depth but less chromatic; more subdued in intensity.

The finish you select for PMS 2118 C can significantly change how the color is perceived. In gloss or semigloss finishes, PMS 2118 C appears brighter and more saturated, giving a vivid, high-impact effect ideal for brand-forward projects. Matte finishes will diffuse the light, which can subdue the intensity and make the color look flatter or slightly darker. If your application requires the most striking magenta-violet look, a glossier finish will deliver a more intense result. Always consider how lighting and finish interact together, and evaluate a sample before proceeding if appearance is critical for your brand standards.
Pantone PMS 2118 C can be matched in a range of products suited for branding, display, or prototyping work. Common options include custom spray paint, paint pens, and brush-in-cap bottles, as well as other formats suitable for marketing and display fabrication. When choosing a format, consider the application method, required durability, and surface material. For example, use spray paint for large, smooth surfaces or fast coverage, and paint pens or brush-in-cap bottles for detailed or small areas. These options help achieve consistent visual alignment with Pantone PMS 2118 C across different project types.
Pantone PMS 2118 C is a deep, highly saturated magenta-violet, which can be challenging to match due to its vividness and low light reflectance. Results may vary based on substrate, finish, and lighting, so do not expect the color to look identical on all surfaces or paints. Multiple coats may be needed for full coverage, especially over light backgrounds. MyPerfectColor specializes in providing accurate matches for display and brand-standard use, but always review a sample in your intended environment if appearance is critical for your application.
To achieve a uniform, accurate result with PMS 2118 C paint, start by making sure the surface is clean, dry, and free of dust or grease. Lightly scuff glossy or very smooth surfaces with fine sandpaper to help the paint adhere. Remove debris with a clean cloth. For surfaces prone to absorption or unevenness, use a suitable primer. Always test the color and coverage on a small, inconspicuous area first before full application. Proper preparation helps produce the most consistent color and finish for your branding or display work.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 2118 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
