PMS 2425 C is part of the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection, serving as a standardized color reference for brand and identity specification. This color presents a bold, saturated magenta/purple character. Its vibe is intense, modern, energetic, and commanding, often chosen for projects that require a visually striking or expressive accent.

PMS 2425 C appears dark due to its low light reflectance value (LRV 5.46). The color demonstrates a distinct cool-magenta bias with a distinctly purple cast. PMS 2425 C shows high chroma, resulting in vividness and eye-catching saturation. Undertones lean toward blue, resulting in a cool, vibrant magenta appearance. This color can appear deeper and slightly cooler in low light or matte finishes; gloss can enhance its vibrancy.

PMS 2425 C works effectively in contexts where bold visual presence is necessary, such as branded displays, event graphics, and product prototypes. Users should be aware that highly saturated, dark magentas can be sensitive to lighting conditions, often appearing deeper in dim environments. Surface selection and finish have a strong influence on perceived intensity and vibrancy, so sampling in intended lighting and finish is strongly recommended. When compared to other colors within similar magenta or purple families, PMS 2425 C stands out as notably more chromatic and cooler, and may require additional coats for uniform hide due to its pigmentation strength.

Similar colors:
PMS 241 C – Slightly lighter and warmer, with a more pronounced fuchsia undertone.

PMS 2592 C – Darker and even more purple, with less magenta chroma.

PMS 226 C – Brighter and more intensely pink, lacking the cool blue-magenta depth of PMS 2425 C.

PMS 254 C – Darker, more muted, and shifted further toward violet.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2425 C

How durable is PMS 2425 C spray paint for brand displays and what factors affect its performance?

The durability of PMS 2425 C spray paint depends on several factors, including substrate preparation, environment, and whether you use a protective topcoat. For best results, ensure the surface is clean, dry, and properly primed before painting. In environments with high traffic, moisture, or outdoor exposure, choosing a paint type formulated for those conditions and applying a compatible clear topcoat is recommended. Always match the paint system to your exposure needs for brand installations using PMS 2425 C.

When is it recommended to sample PMS 2425 C before ordering for a marketing or display project?

Sampling PMS 2425 C is advised when the project is high-visibility, such as branded retail fixtures, event graphics, or installations with strict brand appearance requirements. Also, sample if the color will be viewed under specific lighting or applied to unusual substrates. Sampling lets you confirm color acceptability and appearance before committing to full production, reducing brand risk and ensuring your team or client signs off on the final look.

Why can PMS 2425 C appear different under various lighting, and how should this influence my order?

PMS 2425 C, like all Pantone colors, may look noticeably different under different lighting conditions. The color can appear deeper or cooler in dim or bluish light and more vivid under bright or warm light. This effect, called metamerism, is pronounced in saturated shades such as PMS 2425 C. Always review a sample in the actual lighting where the finished product will be displayed to ensure the color meets your expectations before finalizing your order.

What should I consider when applying PMS 2425 C to plastics or low-energy surfaces?

When using PMS 2425 C on plastics or other low-surface-energy materials, be aware that standard paints may not adhere well without specific preparation. Some plastics require a dedicated plastic primer or adhesion promoter before color application. Always test PMS 2425 C on the actual material first to verify adhesion and final appearance. For critical projects, confirm the compatibility of your substrate and paint system before production.

Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 2425 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 2425 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 2425 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
