PMS 2023 C, part of the Pantone PMS system, is a yellow-orange hue exhibiting a bright and saturated appearance with a moderate reflectance (LRV 42.37). The color is perceived as energetic, inviting, and contemporary, often chosen for dynamic visual branding due to its blend of warmth and vibrancy. Its vibe is best characterized as bold, impactful, and unambiguous.

- PMS 2023 C has a medium-light value based on its reflectance.
- The color shows a strong warm tendency, with the yellow-orange positioning leading to evident warmth.
- This color is highly saturated, with visual vividness and little grey or muted quality.
- The undertone is a balanced orange with a soft golden-yellow undertint.
- The appearance can shift moderately with different finishes, with gloss intensifying the perceptual brightness and saturation.

PMS 2023 C is operationally selected for projects demanding a vivid, optimistic, and modern warm hue, especially where color consistency across branded materials is important. Users should evaluate coverage, as highly saturated warm colors can require more coats for uniformity. The color’s vibrancy is enhanced in higher-sheen finishes but may appear flatter in matte applications. Lighting type affects how the orange and yellow components are perceived, so always visually benchmark the paint in its intended environment before final approval. Compared to similarly warm tones in the PMS system, PMS 2023 C will read as distinctly more energetic and saturated, without the muted or neutral quality some alternatives may present.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 136 C: Lighter and slightly more yellow, less saturated, less bold in direct comparison.
  • PMS 144 C: Darker and deeper, with a more pronounced orange-red cast, less of the light golden quality.
  • PMS 123 C: Lighter and more strongly yellow, lower chroma and more subdued than PMS 2023 C.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2023 C

How closely will PMS 2023 C paint match the color in my Pantone book?

PMS 2023 C paint is matched to the Pantone PMS 2023 C reference, but differences in sheen, substrate, and lighting can affect how the color appears compared to a Pantone book chip. Pantone guides use ink on paper as a standard. Paints may look brighter or less saturated depending on gloss or the surface they are applied to. To make sure the result meets your expectations, always sample PMS 2023 C on the actual material in its intended finish and lighting before final production.

What should I consider when using PMS 2023 C to paint metal or powder-coated parts?

When applying PMS 2023 C to metal or powder-coated surfaces, thorough preparation is essential. Clean and scuff the surface to ensure good adhesion and consistent appearance. Existing coatings, gloss level, and surface texture can change how PMS 2023 C looks in the final result. Color and vibrancy are most reliable when the paint is applied evenly over properly prepped material. For best results, order a sample of PMS 2023 C and test it on the specific metal or part you plan to use to confirm color and finish performance before full production.

Why do I need to use both the code and name when ordering PMS 2023 C paint?

The Pantone code 'PMS 2023 C' is a unique identifier for the target color. Using both the code and the full name helps avoid confusion with similar colors or variants. Pantone codes may include suffixes like 'C', 'U', or 'M', which refer to different print substrates and can specify different shades. Always provide the complete code and name when ordering PMS 2023 C to ensure you receive the correct color match for your project. Failing to specify the exact code can result in ordering the wrong color target.

How do I choose the right type of PMS 2023 C paint for interior versus exterior applications?

To select the appropriate PMS 2023 C paint, consider where the painted surface will be used. For indoor projects, interior paints are usually sufficient and offer a choice of sheens to match branding needs. For exterior or exposed environments, choose a paint specifically formulated for outdoor durability to retain the color and finish of PMS 2023 C over time. Always confirm you are ordering the right format for your application before proceeding.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 2023 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 2023 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 2023 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How much area will one spray can cover? And what is Pantone PMS 2023 C spray paint made of?

Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 2023 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 2023 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
