PMS 123 C is part of the Pantone PMS system, serving as a standard for designers and manufacturers specifying vivid, recognizable color targets. PMS 123 C presents a visually impactful, energetic yellow with a clean, high-visibility vibe. It is frequently chosen for its strong presence, clarity, and ability to capture attention in branding, display, and marketing contexts.
PMS 123 C appears as a bright medium-to-light yellow. The color exhibits a warm undertone, contributing to its inviting, highly readable appearance. PMS 123 C maintains high saturation, resulting in a bold, intense chromatic effect. Undertones remain consistent across various lighting conditions, but the shade may shift slightly toward orange-yellow under warm lighting. The color’s LRV (64.07) indicates strong reflectivity and visual lightness. PMS 123 C can be notably sensitive to finish: higher gloss finishes increase perceived vibrancy, while matte finishes may subdue chroma. PMS 123 C may show some translucence—multiple coats or a suitable primer may be required to achieve full opacity, especially over dark substrates.
PMS 123 C is often used in branding guidelines for consumer packaging, sports graphics, and retail communications. The color is frequently employed in wayfinding systems and environments that require urgent visibility. PMS 123 C is commonly specified for trade show graphics and temporary installations to attract attention under dynamic lighting.
PMS 123 C works well in projects that require visual prominence, brand recognition, or clear communication in both print and painted applications. When specifying this color, it is important to prepare surfaces thoroughly and consider a white or light-colored primer to achieve full brightness. Highly chromatic yellows such as PMS 123 C are susceptible to metamerism, meaning perceived color can shift under different light sources or finishes. Designers should evaluate both physical Pantone samples and sprayed-out paint tests in the actual project environment to confirm acceptability.
This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

Pantone PMS 123 C is not recommended for touch-up applications on existing products or finishes. The Pantone PMS system defines color but does not specify finish, sheen, substrate, or environmental aging. Using PMS 123 C as a touch-up target may lead to visible differences because the original coating's gloss, texture, and exposure conditions are not controlled by the Pantone standard. For touch-ups or repairs, color matching should start with a sample from the existing surface, not just the PMS code.
To achieve the best results with PMS 123 C, start by cleaning the surface thoroughly to remove dust, grease, and any particulate matter. Lightly scuff glossy or slick surfaces to promote adhesion. Make sure the surface is dry before painting. For highly chromatic yellows like PMS 123 C, applying a white or light-colored primer is strongly recommended, especially over dark or uneven substrates, to achieve the intended brightness. Always test a small area first to confirm appearance and adhesion.
Pantone PMS 123 C is a licensed color standard, meaning it is defined and controlled by Pantone for consistency across materials and production runs. When PMS 123 C is reproduced by an authorized licensee, you gain confidence that the paint matches the true Pantone color target, supporting reliable brand and visual outcomes. Unauthorized reproductions may not meet Pantone's requirements for accuracy or consistency, which can affect brand presentation in displays, marketing, and fabrication projects.
For the best results with PMS 123 C spray paint, apply several thin coats rather than one thick coat. Allow each coat to become tack-free before applying the next layer. This approach improves color uniformity, coverage, and surface appearance, especially for vivid colors like PMS 123 C. Be patient with drying time between coats, and avoid overloading the surface to minimize runs or uneven finish. Always test the paint in your specific environment before full application.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
