Pantone™ PMS 123 C

Pantone PMS 123 C is not recommended for touch-up applications on existing products or finishes. The Pantone PMS system defines color but does not specify finish, sheen, substrate, or environmental aging. Using PMS 123 C as a touch-up target may lead to visible differences because the original coating's gloss, texture, and exposure conditions are not controlled by the Pantone standard. For touch-ups or repairs, color matching should start with a sample from the existing surface, not just the PMS code.

To achieve the best results with PMS 123 C, start by cleaning the surface thoroughly to remove dust, grease, and any particulate matter. Lightly scuff glossy or slick surfaces to promote adhesion. Make sure the surface is dry before painting. For highly chromatic yellows like PMS 123 C, applying a white or light-colored primer is strongly recommended, especially over dark or uneven substrates, to achieve the intended brightness. Always test a small area first to confirm appearance and adhesion.

Pantone PMS 123 C is a licensed color standard, meaning it is defined and controlled by Pantone for consistency across materials and production runs. When PMS 123 C is reproduced by an authorized licensee, you gain confidence that the paint matches the true Pantone color target, supporting reliable brand and visual outcomes. Unauthorized reproductions may not meet Pantone's requirements for accuracy or consistency, which can affect brand presentation in displays, marketing, and fabrication projects.

For the best results with PMS 123 C spray paint, apply several thin coats rather than one thick coat. Allow each coat to become tack-free before applying the next layer. This approach improves color uniformity, coverage, and surface appearance, especially for vivid colors like PMS 123 C. Be patient with drying time between coats, and avoid overloading the surface to minimize runs or uneven finish. Always test the paint in your specific environment before full application.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
