PMS 136 C is part of the Pantone Matching System (PMS), a standardized collection used for consistent color specification across print, packaging, displays, and brand identity projects. This color is lively, vivid, energetic, clean, and modern, often evoking a sense of accessibility and clarity in visual communications.

PMS 136 C has a medium light appearance, with a light reflectance value (LRV) of 58.47. The color shows a distinctly warm tendency, leaning toward the yellow-orange region. It is highly saturated and visually striking. The undertone of PMS 136 C is a warm yellow with a hint of orange, giving it depth and vibrancy. This color can appear significantly brighter or more muted depending on gloss level and surface texture. PMS 136 C may be finish-sensitive, with gloss enhancing its brightness and matte finishes slightly reducing its intensity.

PMS 136 C is effective in scenarios where attention, brightness, and a welcoming impression are priorities, such as branded displays, promotional environments, or brand-linked assets intended for high visibility. Users should verify appearance under final lighting conditions, as the color’s vibrancy can shift in different light types (especially under cool or low light where warmth may dull). For best results, a uniform base and proper surface preparation are recommended to achieve even coverage, since high-chroma yellows can sometimes require multiple coats for opacity compared to more muted or darker colors.

Similar colors:
PMS 123 C – Similar in character but lighter and slightly more neutral, with less orange warmth.

PMS 137 C – Deeper and more orange, appearing warmer and richer compared to PMS 136 C.

PMS 142 C – Muted and less saturated, with a softer, more understated golden-yellow look.

How do I order paint matched to PMS 136 C on MyPerfectColor?

To order paint that matches Pantone PMS 136 C, start by selecting your preferred product format such as spray paint, paint pens, or other available options. Choose the correct sheen (for example, gloss or matte) based on the look you need for your brand or display. Enter the quantity required and review any additional options offered. Confirm all your selections before finishing checkout. Review your project requirements to make sure the product type, sheen, and amount meet your visual and performance goals for PMS 136 C.

What safety and VOC considerations should I keep in mind when using paint matched to PMS 136 C?

The specific safety and VOC (volatile organic compound) considerations for PMS 136 C depend on the product format you select, such as spray paint or urethane. Always review the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for the chosen product before use. Use paints only in well-ventilated areas, wear recommended protective equipment, and dispose of materials according to local guidelines. Following safe use practices will help ensure proper handling of any PMS 136 C paint product.

What should I know about applying PMS 136 C to plastics or low energy surfaces?

When using paint matched to PMS 136 C on plastics or low energy surfaces, keep in mind that some materials may resist paint adhesion. It is recommended to use an appropriate primer designed for your specific plastic type, and to test PMS 136 C paint on a small area of the actual substrate before full production. This helps confirm both color appearance and performance on your chosen surface.

How is PMS 136 C used in prototyping and concept model workflows?

PMS 136 C is often specified in prototypes and concept models to achieve a visually accurate brand color presentation for displays, products, or marketing assets. When planning your workflow, select the paint format that matches your project needs, such as spray paint for coverage or paint pens for detail. Always evaluate PMS 136 C on the same material under the lighting conditions planned for final use. This step helps ensure the color represents your brand as intended in the context of your prototype or concept model.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 136 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 136 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
