PMS 7486 C from the Pantone PMS System is a light, modern green characterized by its brightness and distinctly cool cast. The color is perceived as clean, energetic, fresh, and technical, making it a frequent choice for design projects seeking high visual clarity and a contemporary vibe.

PMS 7486 C presents as a light hue, with an LRV of 70.01 indicating relatively strong brightness. The color has a cool tendency, with a green cast influenced by a hue angle above 120 degrees. PMS 7486 C demonstrates a vivid, medium-to-high saturation level, yielding noticeable chromatic intensity without appearing neon. The undertone is clearly green, with a slight blue influence that provides a crisp, fresh quality. This color can be sensitive to finish and lighting, with higher gloss finishes accentuating its brightness and cooler synthetic light sources making it appear even cooler.

PMS 7486 C is effective when a project requires a distinctively light, crisp green that stands out for its cleanliness and freshness. It works well in well-lit environments where color consistency and contemporary tone are important, such as branded signage, displays, or fixtures. Care should be taken with lighting selection as this color may become more vivid or shifted with cool white LEDs; matte finishes can slightly subdue its vibrancy, while glossy finishes intensify its chromatic quality. Coverage may require additional coats to achieve uniformity due to its lightness and relative saturation, especially over contrasting substrates.

PMS 7466 C: Darker and more blue-leaning, resulting in a cooler and more teal-forward appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7486 C

How can lighting affect the appearance of Pantone PMS 7486 C when applied in brand environments?

PMS 7486 C is sensitive to lighting conditions, which can change how its color is perceived on displays, signage, or prototypes. Under cool white LEDs or fluorescent lights, PMS 7486 C may appear even cooler and more vibrant, while warm incandescent or natural daylight can soften its intensity. To ensure consistency in your brand application, always evaluate physical samples of PMS 7486 C under the same lighting and conditions as the final installation environment.

How does sheen selection impact the final look of Pantone PMS 7486 C in a brand display or exhibit?

The sheen or finish chosen for PMS 7486 C plays a major role in how the color appears once applied. Gloss and semi-gloss finishes will make PMS 7486 C look brighter and more vibrant, amplifying its clean, fresh qualities. Matte and eggshell sheens can slightly reduce vibrancy and help control reflections. Select the sheen based on intended viewing conditions, distance, and how much visual impact you want the color to have, but always test a sample before committing to a large order.

What factors impact the durability of PMS 7486 C when used as a custom spray paint for branding?

Durability of PMS 7486 C spray paint depends on several factors, including how well the substrate is prepared, whether an appropriate primer and clear coat are used, and the type of exposure the painted surface will face. For best results in brand environments, make sure surfaces are clean and properly primed, select the correct spray paint type for interior or exterior use, and consider a protective topcoat if exposed to traffic or weather. Review your project needs to choose the right paint system for PMS 7486 C.

What is the benefit of sampling PMS 7486 C before a full production run in a brand approval workflow?

Sampling PMS 7486 C lets you test how the color appears on your actual substrate and under final lighting before committing to large orders or installations. This process can uncover any unexpected shifts in color or vibrancy due to material or environmental factors. For projects with strict brand standards or high visibility, ordering a sample enables stakeholders to approve the appearance and finish, reducing risk of costly rework or misalignment with brand goals.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7486 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
