PMS 7466 C is part of the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection, a standardized color library widely used in brand specification and graphic design. This color is recognized for its distinctly vibrant, bold blue-cyan character with a noticeably cool bias. The overall vibe is energetic, clear, assertive, and modern, suitable for applications where visual presence and brand consistency are priorities.

- PMS 7466 C appears moderately dark; its LRV of 31.59 gives it a solid, saturated appearance without being overly deep or muted. - The color leans strongly cool due to its blue-green hue. - PMS 7466 C exhibits high saturation, resulting in a vivid, intense look under most lighting conditions. - The undertone is explicitly blue with a green-cyan influence, yielding a clean, contemporary aesthetic. - The color is sensitive to light direction and intensity, and perceived saturation may shift with finish (especially between matte and gloss).

PMS 7466 C works effectively in projects requiring bold, easily recognized color—frequently in brand environments, signage, displays, and prototype work. For accurate representation, evaluate physical samples under the actual lighting and desired finish. Due to its high chroma, this color may require more coats for uniform coverage on some substrates, and appearance can shift under different finishes; always confirm on the intended surface using drawdowns or test panels. Compared to other saturated blue-cyan shades, PMS 7466 C offers relatively balanced readability and visual weight on both light and dark backgrounds.

This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

Similar colors:

PMS 3125 C: More chromatic, with a higher green-cyan influence and a brighter, more vivid effect.

PMS 7701 C: Shares a similar hue but is deeper and has a heavier, darker look.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7466 C

How does surface texture affect the appearance of Pantone PMS 7466 C?

Surface texture changes how Pantone PMS 7466 C will look when applied as paint. Rougher or matte surfaces tend to scatter light, which can make the color appear lighter and less saturated. Smoother or glossy surfaces reflect more light, often increasing the perceived depth and saturation, but can also highlight imperfections or uneven coverage. To accurately evaluate PMS 7466 C, check a sample painted on the intended substrate with the texture and finish you plan to use under actual lighting conditions.

What should I consider when using PMS 7466 C on metal or powder-coated parts?

When applying PMS 7466 C to metal or powder-coated parts, thorough cleaning and surface preparation are important. Any gloss, residue, or loose coatings on the existing surface can affect both adhesion and final color appearance. Lightly scuffing or sanding helps new coatings bond, and cleaning removes contaminants. Because gloss levels from prior coatings influence reflectivity and color strength, always test a sample of PMS 7466 C paint on your actual part and finish before full production to confirm appearance and hide.

What should I expect regarding durability when using PMS 7466 C as spray paint?

The durability of PMS 7466 C as spray paint depends on substrate preparation, the type of paint and topcoat chosen, and the use environment. Proper cleaning and priming help maximize adhesion to the surface. If high durability is needed, select a paint and topcoat system suitable for the intended exposure (such as UV, moisture, or abrasion). Always match the product to your project''s demands, knowing that PMS 7466 C is typically selected where brand appearance matters most. Evaluate the result in context before full-scale use.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7466 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
