PMS 7479 C is a standardized color in the Pantone Matching System, classified as a chromatic blue-green. The color registers a medium-light value and is widely regarded in professional specification settings as lively, contemporary, assertive, clear, and technical. It is often selected for projects where high visibility and strong color consistency across multiple substrates are required.

PMS 7479 C appears medium-light in value (LRV: 46.7). The color leans cool, with a pronounced blue-green hue. PMS 7479 C exhibits strong chroma, presenting as highly saturated and visually assertive. The color’s undertone is a true blend of blue and green, skewing neither distinctly teal nor turquoise. The appearance of PMS 7479 C can shift under different lighting and may be finish-sensitive, with higher sheens increasing perceived saturation and brightness.

PMS 7479 C is best used when a clean, high-impact blue-green is required for branded elements, marketing displays, or design prototypes. Consistent color accuracy matters most when matching other Pantone PMS-specified materials. Evaluate the color in situ, as lighting and chosen finish can alter its appearance. Due to its chromatic intensity, expect moderate hide compared to more neutral or less saturated options, and consider additional coats for uniform coverage. Finish selection will influence how vibrant or muted the color appears relative to similar blue-greens.

Similar colors:
PMS 7465 C – Similar blue-green, but appears slightly darker and more muted.

PMS 3268 C – Cooler and greener, with less blue influence and even greater chroma.

PMS 320 C – Lighter and less saturated, trending toward a more muted teal.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7479 C

How can I be sure I am ordering the exact PMS 7479 C color for my project?

To ensure you select the correct PMS 7479 C color, always confirm the code including any suffix or series letter against your official brand standards or specification documents. Suffixes like C (coated), U (uncoated), or other Pantone series can impact the intended color reference. If your project or vendor documentation specifies PMS 7479 C, verify it matches what you are ordering. This helps avoid costly re-orders or color mismatches, especially for brand and marketing applications where accuracy matters.

What steps help achieve a uniform look when applying PMS 7479 C over large areas?

PMS 7479 C is a highly saturated blue-green, so achieving a consistent finish over larger surfaces requires careful planning. Use the same application technique, maintain a wet edge, and plan for enough material to cover the entire area in one session. Because saturated colors like PMS 7479 C may show patchiness or lighter spots if coverage is uneven, applying multiple thin, even coats is usually needed. Review coverage after each coat under the actual lighting where the project will be installed, and allow proper drying between coats for best results.

How does PMS 7479 C paint compare to how it appears in a Pantone book?

Pantone books provide a consistent printed reference, but PMS 7479 C paint may appear slightly different on your chosen substrate or in your selected finish. Gloss, matte, and semi-gloss sheens can affect how saturated and bright PMS 7479 C looks. Lighting conditions and substrate material also play a role. If exact alignment to your Pantone book is critical, test a sample of PMS 7479 C paint on your actual project surface and review it next to your Pantone guide under the intended lighting.

What should I consider when using PMS 7479 C for interior versus exterior applications?

When specifying PMS 7479 C for a project, select a paint type suitable for its environment. For exterior uses, choose paints designed to withstand weather exposure and UV light, which helps maintain the color''s vividness. For interiors, you have more flexibility with finishes and types, focusing on visual impact and brand alignment. Always confirm the finish to ensure your project achieves the right level of saturation and durability for its setting.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7479 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
