PMS 7447 C from the Pantone PMS system is a standard, deep purple with a pronounced coolness and subdued richness. The color’s overall character can be described as modern, technical, sophisticated, reserved, and assertive. This shade is typically aligned with high-impact, brand-driven visual environments demanding both distinctiveness and formality.

PMS 7447 C is distinctly dark, with a low LRV of 7.54 indicating minimal reflectance and high depth. The color has a cool tendency, driven by its position on the color spectrum and its dominant blue undertones. PMS 7447 C presents a moderate saturation; it avoids both pastel lightness and overly vivid chroma. The undertone is primarily blue-violet, lending a contemporary and understated air. The color may appear glossier and slightly lighter in high-sheen finishes, with lighting—especially daylight or cool white—further emphasizing its blue undertones.

PMS 7447 C is operationally effective for branded environments, signage, and displays where a distinctive but formal purple is required. It performs well in spaces where lighting is controlled, as cool or dim lighting will accentuate its depth, while strong direct light can bring out subtle variations. When used in paint, additional attention may be necessary for substrate preparation to ensure even coverage, especially over light or contrasting backgrounds. Compared to similar dark purples, PMS 7447 C maintains a cooler and more technical appearance and does not readily shift toward warmer or redder purples under variable lighting.

Similar colors:
PMS 2685 C: Slightly lighter and more vibrant, presenting a more chromatic purple with less subdued character.

PMS 276 C: Considerably darker and even more subdued, with a near-black blue-purple appearance.

PMS 7672 C: Warmer and more muted, trending toward a violet-plum rather than true cool purple.

As with many Pantone colors, small differences in substrate, application method, or lighting can influence the perceived result. Proper surface preparation, including priming as needed, supports color consistency and hide. Review the specifications for your chosen paint format or consult MyPerfectColor for substrate-specific advice.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7447 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
