Pantone™ PMS 9163 C

PMS 9163 C is a Pantone PMS standard, which means it is a brand-controlled reference color, not just a paint formula. Using a licensed and authorized Pantone process ensures your paint closely matches the specified PMS 9163 C target. Unlicensed paint products may not provide the controlled consistency that brands and marketing projects require, increasing the risk of visible color mismatch across displays or prototype elements. For true brand consistency, always source PMS 9163 C paint from an authorized Pantone licensee such as MyPerfectColor.

Selecting a standard Pantone PMS 9163 C match is appropriate when your project involves brand-facing displays, signage, event graphics, prototypes, or marketing installations that specify this Pantone code as the color reference. This approach works well when the goal is visual alignment with the Pantone standard, such as for temporary experiences, trade show exhibits, or concept models. It is most effective when exact brand color consistency is required across new, uniform substrates, and touch-up or precise substrate-specific repair is not the objective.

The appearance of PMS 9163 C can shift depending on the lighting where it is displayed. For example, under daylight-balanced or LED lighting, the color will show its clean yellow-green character and reflectance. Under warm or low-CRI (color rendering index) lighting, PMS 9163 C can appear more muted or less vibrant. Because brand and display projects often have controlled lighting, it is important to evaluate painted samples of PMS 9163 C under the actual installation lighting to ensure the color is perceived as intended. This reduces the risk of surprises once the color is installed in the final environment.

Sampling PMS 9163 C is strongly advised for high-visibility brand installations, large-scale displays, permanent environments, or whenever the lighting and substrate may influence the final color appearance. This is especially important with lighter or vivid colors like PMS 9163 C, which can reveal differences in hide, gloss, or base color effect. Request a sample if your project has strict brand approval requirements or if appearance must be reviewed and approved by stakeholders before large orders, to avoid costly rework or visual mismatches.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
