PMS 7488 C is part of the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection, which serves as a global standard for specifying exact color targets in branding, display fabrication, and industrial design. The visual impression is contemporary, vivid, saturated, clean, and assertive, reflecting a medium green hue with noticeable brightness and chromatic intensity. This color is primarily used in contexts where brand color uniformity is essential across different production methods and materials, ensuring a consistent and engaging visual result.

PMS 7488 C presents as a medium-light color with a light reflectance value (LRV) of 52.59. The color is distinctly cool due to its green hue, with minimal yellow or blue influence. PMS 7488 C exhibits high saturation and chroma, appearing bold and vibrant under most lighting conditions. The undertone is clean green, with little visible grayness or muddiness. This color can be sensitive to finish; a gloss or satin sheen will increase its vibrancy, while matte finishes may slightly reduce color intensity.

PMS 7488 C performs well in branded applications, especially where visual impact and consistency are critical, such as exhibit components, retail experiences, and promotional displays. It maintains its identity under varied lighting but may appear more subdued in soft natural light and more intense under direct or cool artificial light. The high saturation may reduce hiding power on some substrates, requiring additional coats or a white primer for optimal opacity. When selecting this color, compare samples in the intended finish and lighting to ensure target appearance.

PMS 355 C: A comparable but more blue-toned green, resulting in a slightly cooler feel compared to PMS 7488 C.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7488 C

Why does Pantone PMS 7488 C not have an exact match in other paint brand color systems?

Pantone PMS 7488 C is a standardized brand color used to ensure consistency across different materials and vendors. Most paint brands have their own unique color collections and formulas, which often do not include a direct match for vivid Pantone hues like PMS 7488 C. Cross-referencing is rarely exact, and equivalent options may differ in brightness, undertone, or saturation. For brand accuracy and reliable visual consistency, specifying PMS 7488 C directly is preferred over seeking an alternate paint brand code.

What surface preparation is needed before applying Pantone PMS 7488 C paint for branded applications?

To achieve the best results with Pantone PMS 7488 C paint, start by cleaning the surface to remove dust, grease, or residue. If the substrate is glossy or smooth, lightly scuff-sand to improve adhesion. Make sure the area is completely dry before painting. For highly saturated colors like PMS 7488 C, using a white primer can help achieve true color coverage and reduce the number of coats needed. Always test a small patch in the intended finish and lighting to confirm appearance before full-scale application.

How is Pantone PMS 7488 C used to support consistent brand experiences?

Pantone PMS 7488 C is specified in brand standards to communicate a precise visual identity across marketing materials, displays, and environments. Using PMS 7488 C ensures that all components reflect the same recognizable green, regardless of production method or substrate. This consistency helps maintain a unified brand impression, which is essential for exhibits, pop-ups, retail activations, and any marketing-driven installation where color accuracy signals brand quality.

What are practical tips for getting uniform coverage with Pantone PMS 7488 C over larger surfaces?

For large areas using Pantone PMS 7488 C, plan the application so you work methodically section by section. Use consistent technique and overlap wet edges to prevent visible lines. Highly saturated colors like PMS 7488 C can require more coats for full coverage, especially on contrasting or textured substrates, so apply thin, even layers rather than trying to achieve coverage in one pass. Allow each coat to dry completely and review the surface in the intended lighting to be sure the color is even and meets brand expectations.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 7488 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 7488 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 7488 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
