PMS 9502 C from the Pantone PMS collection is a nuanced, crisp blue-green with a modern, technical edge. This color projects a clean, contemporary, and vivid feel. The overall vibe is energetic, cool, and visually fresh, supporting uses where clarity and branded distinctiveness are needed.

PMS 9502 C presents as a light to mid-light tone, supported by a relatively high light reflectance value (LRV 70.01).

The color has a distinctly cool tendency, with a blue-green (teal) visual direction dominated by blue influence.

It demonstrates moderate chroma, giving the color noticeable clarity and visual presence without being overly saturated or garish.

Undertones are cool and quiet, with minimal warm cast or yellowing.

The color’s appearance may shift in different lighting and can be more vivid or crisp in higher-gloss finishes.

PMS 9502 C is effective when a cool, modern color is required for branding, product prototypes, display units, or feature environments where visual clarity and distinction are important. When considering this color, note that perceived saturation may shift with lighting temperature—cool (daylight) conditions make it appear cleaner, while warm lighting may mute its vibrancy. As with all light blue-greens, surface priming and uniform application are recommended to avoid unevenness or dulling, especially in lower-hiding formulations. PMS 9502 C stands apart from other blue-greens by maintaining a brighter, more luminous quality with less depth, and may appear more contemporary.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 3255 C – Slightly lighter and more green, yielding a softer yet still cool appearance.
  • PMS 3252 C – A similar blue-green, but somewhat darker and noticeably deeper in chromatic strength.
  • PMS 310 C – Lighter and more pastel, with a higher blue content and a subtler, airier look.
  • PMS 7466 C – Darker and more saturated, providing a bolder, more intense blue-green statement.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 9502 C

What should I expect for the durability of Pantone PMS 9502 C spray paint in brand or display applications?

The durability of Pantone PMS 9502 C in spray paint depends on the surface preparation, paint type, and the environment where it will be used. For best results, surfaces should be clean, dry, and properly primed before painting. If your project is subject to abrasion, frequent handling, or outdoor exposure, consider adding a compatible clear topcoat or selecting an industrial paint system for higher resistance. For interior branding, trade show, or prototype use where heavy exposure is not expected, standard spray paints can provide vivid color alignment with the Pantone reference, but protection from scratching and fading is limited compared to more robust coatings. Always choose the paint format that matches your durability needs and test compatibility with your substrate and environment before full project rollout.

What should I consider when painting metal or powder-coated parts with Pantone PMS 9502 C?

If you are applying Pantone PMS 9502 C to metal or over a powder-coated surface, proper cleaning and surface preparation are critical. Scuff-sanding glossy or slick finishes helps new paint adhere more effectively and can also reduce gloss differences that may alter the final color's appearance. Residual oils, dirt, or unmatched gloss between old and new coatings can affect visual consistency. It is strongly recommended to prep surfaces carefully and test a sample of PMS 9502 C on the actual substrate to confirm the color and finish before moving forward with large-scale application.

Will Pantone PMS 9502 C provide full coverage in a single coat, or are additional coats needed?

Pantone PMS 9502 C is a light and moderately saturated blue-green. Like many vivid Pantone PMS colors, it may require more than one coat to achieve solid, uniform coverage, especially over dark or contrasting substrates. Applying a suitable primer coat, ideally in a light or neutral shade, helps improve color accuracy and reduces the number of topcoats needed. Plan for at least two coats of PMS 9502 C for reliable hide, and ensure each coat is dry before the next is applied to maintain visual clarity and brand consistency.

When is it appropriate to specify Pantone PMS 9502 C as a standard color match for paint?

Standard Pantone PMS 9502 C paint matches are appropriate for brand-facing displays, signage, exhibit components, prototypes, and marketing projects where the Pantone PMS reference is the primary visual target. If your project is focused on accurately representing brand or marketing colors and does not involve critical multi-material alignment or high-visibility, permanent installations, a standard PMS match provides a reliable and recognizable color reference. For complex, permanent, or multi-surface projects, or where stringent approval workflows are in place, consider confirming results with samples before specifying PMS 9502 C as the sole target.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 9502 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
