PMS 3255 C is a standardized color from the Pantone Matching System, known for its clear, vivid turquoise character with a blue-green composition. The color has a modern, energetic, and technical vibe, making it visually distinctive and noticeable in branding and display applications. This color’s moderately high lightness allows it to stand out without appearing washed out, supporting applications that require both clarity and boldness.

PMS 3255 C presents as a mid-light color, with a numeric LRV of 51.53, meaning it reflects a moderate amount of light. The color leans cool, with an emphasis on blue tones within its turquoise character. PMS 3255 C is highly saturated, resulting in strong visual intensity and impactful presence. The undertone is explicitly blue-green, reading clean and clear rather than muted or gray. This color can show noticeable shifts under different finishes; glossier surfaces tend to heighten vibrancy and perceived saturation, while matte or flat completely minimizes sheen and may slightly mute the color’s appearance.

PMS 3255 C is well suited for brand-focused displays, experiential environments, and marketing fixtures where a fresh, modern, and clear blue-green is desired. It performs best in projects prioritizing brand color accuracy and visibility, especially in spaces with moderate to bright lighting. As with other saturated colors, it is important to apply over a smooth, uniformly primed surface to achieve even color and coverage. The color’s appearance will change under different lighting conditions and finishes; color approval should be based on both a Pantone reference and a painted sample in final lighting and sheen.

This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 3255 C

Can I use Pantone PMS 3255 C as a touch-up color for an existing coated surface?

Using Pantone PMS 3255 C as a touch-up specification is not recommended for existing coatings or finished products. Pantone references like PMS 3255 C define a target color but do not specify the exact sheen, substrate type, or original coating process. Because the appearance of PMS 3255 C can vary depending on gloss, material, and lighting, a Pantone specification alone is not a reliable match for field touch-ups or repairs. For brand-facing projects, PMS 3255 C works best as a new application reference to achieve visual consistency rather than as a proxy for an unknown or pre-existing finish.

What product options can I order to match Pantone PMS 3255 C?

Pantone PMS 3255 C is available in several product formats to suit different brand and display needs. Typical options include custom spray paint for displays and signage, paint pens for detailed work or small prototypes, and brush-in-cap bottles for sampling or precise applications. In some cases, PMS 3255 C can also be matched in epoxy, urethane, or interior and exterior housepaint. Choose your format based on substrate, application method, and project scale. For highly saturated colors like PMS 3255 C, a spray application often provides the most uniform coverage for large visual elements.

What should I consider when using PMS 3255 C paint in a retail pop-up or branded environment?

For brand and retail experiences using PMS 3255 C, it is important to evaluate durability needs based on traffic, cleaning routines, and exposure. Always sample PMS 3255 C on the actual surface, in the intended finish, and under final lighting to confirm color acceptance. Color appearance can shift with different gloss levels and lighting setups. Highly saturated colors like PMS 3255 C might require additional coats or a suitable light primer to ensure even coverage and true color. Review your project requirements before selecting format and finish to achieve the expected brand impact and lifespan.

How do I paint plastics or low-surface-energy materials with PMS 3255 C?

When applying PMS 3255 C to plastics or low-surface-energy materials, note that many plastics require special surface preparation for proper adhesion. Using a primer designed for plastic may be necessary to ensure durable results. Because plastic compositions and finishes vary, always test PMS 3255 C paint and adhesion on your specific material before committing to a large-scale application. Sampling helps avoid unexpected appearance changes and confirms that the finish will perform as intended in your branded display or prototype.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 3255 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 3255 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
