Pantone™ PMS 8383 C

Pantone books show PMS 8383 C as a standardized reference on paper using Pantone's production method. Paint matched to PMS 8383 C will be formulated to match the target shade, but the appearance can differ due to sheen, application method, substrate, and lighting. The metallic effect, in particular, may look more reflective or slightly different depending on the material and angle. For best results, always evaluate a sample of PMS 8383 C on your actual substrate and under the final lighting conditions before full production, especially for high-visibility brand or display uses.

PMS 8383 C is offered in custom spray paint, paint pens, brush-in-cap bottles, and other professional paint formats such as epoxy, urethane, and interior or exterior housepaint, where available. Selecting the right format depends on your intended use. Spray paint is suited to displays and large surfaces, paint pens or brush-in-cap bottles support detail work or models, and specialty types like epoxy or urethane can be chosen for specific material or durability needs in fabrication or marketing environments.

When using PMS 8383 C for prototypes or concept models, choose a paint format that matches your evaluation goals. Spray paint offers efficient coverage for models or display panels, while paint pens or brush-in-cap bottles provide control for small elements or touch-up during prototyping phases. Because metallic colors are sensitive to substrate and lighting, test PMS 8383 C on the intended materials and review under the same lighting as your planned installation. This helps ensure the final appearance aligns with brand expectations before moving to production or client presentation.

For PMS 8383 C, the intended look is metallic, so a finish that preserves reflectivity is typically preferred for brand and display applications. The sheen you select will affect both color and metallic effect. Higher gloss sheens enhance reflectivity and depth, while lower sheens reduce glare but may mute the metallic character. Select the sheen based on viewing distance, substrate type, and visual intent for your display or prototype. Sampling on your actual material under final lighting conditions is recommended to confirm the effect before full application.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
