Pantone™ PMS 874 C

When evaluating PMS 874 C paint samples, use the same lighting conditions on all samples, as metallic golds can appear different depending on the light source and intensity. Compare samples on the same substrate or material for reliable results, since surface texture and color can shift based on what is painted. Allow all finishes to fully dry and cure before judging the metallic effect and color match. Visual approval is most accurate when these factors are controlled throughout the review process.

The Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for PMS 874 C paint is linked to the specific product type, such as spray paint or housepaint, not the Pantone color itself. To obtain the correct SDS, choose your product format and access the SDS library for that product. This ensures you get safety, handling, and compliance information for the exact paint you are using.

For the best results with PMS 874 C, start by cleaning the surface to remove dust, grease, or residues. Degrease if necessary and lightly scuff glossy or very smooth surfaces to help with adhesion. Always test a small area to confirm that the finish and adhesion are as expected before proceeding with full application. These steps help achieve a smooth, consistent metallic effect and reduce the risk of uneven coverage.

PMS 874 C is a metallic gold with moderate saturation and a muted finish, which can require careful application to achieve uniform appearance and full coverage. Highly metallic colors often benefit from additional coats, especially if applied over dark or uneven surfaces. Plan for at least two coats for best coverage, checking each layer for consistency to ensure the intended metallic effect is achieved.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
