PMS 814 C is a Pantone Matching System (PMS) color defined within the Pantone PMS collection, primarily used for brand specification and consistent color communication across print, paint, and display materials. The color presents a vibrant, highly chromatic violet with a moderate depth and a distinct cool magenta bias. Its visual effect is energetic, high-impact, and attention-grabbing, often described as bold, modern, and technical.
PMS 814 C appears as a medium-dark color with an LRV of 16.79, reflecting relatively low lightness. The color has a distinctly cool orientation, leaning towards magenta rather than blue or red. PMS 814 C exhibits very high chroma, resulting in strong saturation and visual intensity. A pronounced fluorescent undertone is present, increasing vibrancy under direct or UV-rich lighting. The color is finish-sensitive; gloss or satin finishes amplify vibrancy, while matte finishes may mute its appearance.
PMS 814 C is best applied in projects prioritizing maximum color impact and precise brand alignment, such as marketing environments, displays, or branded experiential installations. Under most lighting, the color maintains its vibrancy, but fluorescent qualities become heightened under UV or high-output lights. For highest visual consistency, evaluate color on the actual substrate, in the intended finish and lighting. PMS 814 C’s high chroma may require additional coats for full coverage, and application over a compatible white base coat is often recommended to optimize brightness. This color is visually distinct from muted or less saturated violets, which may recede more in space or under lower light conditions.
This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

Pantone PMS 814 C is a licensed standard defined by the Pantone Matching System, which ensures accurate, consistent color reproduction across materials and vendors. Using an authorized source like MyPerfectColor helps maintain the integrity of PMS 814 C for brand-facing projects and ensures your results align with official Pantone specifications. This is essential for marketing, display, and industrial design applications where matching the intended color target is critical.
For best results with PMS 814 C spray paint, apply several light coats rather than one heavy coat. Allow each coat to dry before applying the next. This approach helps ensure even coverage, especially with highly saturated and fluorescent colors like PMS 814 C, which may require extra coats for complete opacity and optimal brightness. Following these steps reduces the risk of drips and uneven color build, leading to a more professional, brand-consistent appearance.
The vibrancy and brightness of PMS 814 C can change significantly depending on the light source and environment. Fluorescent and highly chromatic colors like PMS 814 C may look more intense under direct or UV-rich lighting, but may appear muted in lower or warmer light. Always evaluate a sample of PMS 814 C paint in the actual location and lighting where it will be used to ensure visual accuracy before finalizing your project.
Proper surface prep for PMS 814 C involves cleaning the substrate to remove dust, grease, or contaminants, and lightly scuffing glossy surfaces if needed for better adhesion. Test a small area with paint to confirm compatibility and appearance. Adequate preparation supports the visual integrity and durability of PMS 814 C, particularly when brand consistency and high visual impact are required.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
