PMS 812 C is a member of the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection, widely used for marketing, branding, and industrial design applications requiring precise color matching across materials. This color has a distinctly energized, vibrant, and assertive character, often used where visibility and impact are prioritized. Its vibe can be characterized as bold, dynamic, conspicuous, and modern.

PMS 812 C appears as a medium-bright fluorescent orange-pink. The color demonstrates a warm temperature, trending neither strictly orange nor pink but balanced between both. Saturation is very high, with strong chroma and visual intensity. Undertone displays a subtle pinkish influence beneath the dominant orange note. Light reflectance value (LRV) is 30.4, which places it in the mid-range for brightness; it appears vivid but not pale. The color is more sensitive to finish: gloss finishes can intensify its brightness and saturation, while matte or flat finishes may slightly mute its vibrancy.

PMS 812 C is specified when maximum visibility and strong branding presence are required, such as point-of-sale displays, retail activations, or promotional graphics. Evaluate this color carefully in the actual intended lighting, as its fluorescent character and undertones may shift depending on the environment. When comparing to similar brights, PMS 812 C stands out for its balance between orange warmth and pink vibrancy, often looking more intense than either pure orange or pink alternatives. Coverage may require more coats due to high chroma pigments, and finish selection will noticeably affect visual impact. Always confirm with a physical sample.

This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 812 C

Why might Pantone PMS 812 C look different across materials or substrates?

The appearance of Pantone PMS 812 C may vary depending on the material, texture, and finish of the surface you apply it to. Factors like absorption, reflectivity, and surface texture can change how the color is perceived. For example, plastics, metals, and painted wood can each show PMS 812 C with different brightness or saturation even using the same paint formula. For critical brand and display applications, always evaluate a painted sample on the actual substrate and in the intended lighting conditions before final production.

How should I prepare surfaces before applying Pantone PMS 812 C for best results?

Proper surface preparation ensures Pantone PMS 812 C delivers its full color impact and adhesion. Clean all surfaces thoroughly to remove dust, grease, or contaminants. Degrease glossy or oily substrates. Lightly scuff glossy surfaces to promote paint adhesion, and make sure the substrate is dry before painting. It is recommended to test PMS 812 C on a small area first, especially on unfamiliar or challenging substrates, to verify appearance and adhesion in your specific environment.

Why is it important that Pantone PMS 812 C is reproduced by an authorized source?

Pantone PMS 812 C is part of a licensed, standardized color system used for brand consistency. Ordering from an authorized source like MyPerfectColor ensures the paint is formulated to accurately match the Pantone standard, which is critical for branding, displays, and marketing work. Unauthorized sources may not use the correct references, resulting in visible color shifts and inconsistency between components or materials.

What should I know about ordering Pantone PMS 812 C since it is custom made?

Pantone PMS 812 C paint is custom mixed for each order. It is important to confirm you have selected the correct product type, sheen, and format for your project, as custom orders are not easily revised or returned. For large, visible projects or multi-material jobs, it is recommended to order a sample first and evaluate it in your actual conditions. Doing so helps ensure that PMS 812 C delivers the expected brand impact in your final installation.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 812 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 812 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 812 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 812 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
