PMS 715 C is part of the Pantone Matching System, widely used for standardized color specification in brand and display environments. This color exhibits a saturated, medium-light orange character, giving it a bold, clear, and energetic vibe suitable for attention-focused design. Its balanced lightness allows for strong visibility without appearing fluorescent or heavy. PMS 715 C is frequently selected for projects needing a recognizable yet approachable orange that remains consistent across materials.

PMS 715 C offers a medium-light appearance, with a light reflectance value (LRV) of 43.66. The color has a distinctly warm tendency, leaning towards a yellow-orange hue. PMS 715 C is highly saturated, producing a vivid and assertive effect. The undertone is strongly orange with noticeable yellow influence, but it does not present pronounced red or pink notes. This color can be sensitive to finish and sheen; gloss finishes may enhance vibrancy while matte finishes may temper brightness.

PMS 715 C works well where visual clarity and brand recall are important, such as trade show graphics, retail displays, and branded fixtures. Evaluate the color in the actual lighting and finish to confirm suitability, as the perceived saturation and warmth can shift with environmental conditions. Compared to other oranges, PMS 715 C maintains clarity without appearing overly dark or muted. Proper surface preparation is important for even coverage, as saturated colors may require additional coats, especially over contrasting substrates.

Similar colors:
PMS 716 C: Slightly darker and more reddish, offering a deeper and bolder presence.

PMS 1375 C: Brighter and more yellow, giving a more high-visibility or safety-oriented effect.

PMS 151 C: More chromatic with redder undertones, resulting in a richer, deeper orange.

PMS 2024 C: More vibrant and slightly lighter, appearing closer to a neon orange.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 715 C

Why can PMS 715 C not be reliably cross-referenced to other paint brand colors?

PMS 715 C is specified using the Pantone Matching System, which is a unique standard separate from other paint brands. Most paint companies have their own color palettes and numbering systems, so a direct match for PMS 715 C is not built into their collections. For a vivid and saturated color like PMS 715 C, differences in pigment bases, finish, or material can cause noticeable shifts. If your brand or project requires PMS 715 C, order by the Pantone code, not by attempting to find an equivalent.

What tips help ensure a uniform finish when applying PMS 715 C to large display or fixture areas?

When coating large areas with PMS 715 C, use the same application technique and product across all surfaces. Plan your work to keep a wet edge and avoid stopping halfway, as visible lap marks or color shifts can occur, especially with bold oranges like PMS 715 C. Apply multiple thin, even coats rather than one heavy coat. Always evaluate the painted area in final lighting conditions to confirm uniformity before sign-off or installation.

How is PMS 715 C used in sign, display, or exhibit fabrication?

PMS 715 C is often specified as a brand target for fabricated signs, displays, or exhibit components to ensure consistency across projects and materials. Choosing paint or coatings matched specifically to PMS 715 C helps achieve a unified look. It is recommended to sample PMS 715 C on the actual substrate and in the intended finish before full production, as both material and sheen can affect the final appearance of this saturated orange.

What is the best way to ensure full coverage and color accuracy when painting with PMS 715 C?

PMS 715 C is a vivid, highly saturated orange that can require additional coats to achieve even coverage, especially on contrasting or dark substrates. For best results, apply a uniform white or light-colored primer as an undercoat. This helps prevent patchiness and improves the hide of the final color. Plan for at least two finish coats and check coverage under the actual lighting that will be used in the display or installation space.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 715 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 715 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 715 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 715 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 715 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
