PMS 682 C is part of the Pantone Matching System (Pantone PMS) collection, which is an industry standard for color specification in branding, display fabrication, and industrial design. The color delivers a deep, subdued, and mature purple character with a noticeable red-violet undertone. Its appearance is described as substantive, grounded, and professional. The low light reflectivity and medium chroma make it an effective choice for environments where a color needs to read as strong but not overpowering, lending a controlled, corporate, and visually stable impression.

PMS 682 C appears as a dark color with an LRV of 13.16, reflecting low amounts of light.

The color has a distinct cool tendency due to its significant purple and red-violet influence.

PMS 682 C exhibits moderate chroma for a purple, making it saturated without feeling overly vivid or fluorescent.

Undertones are grounded in violet with subtle warmth from red, providing visual depth.

This color can shift noticeably in appearance depending on lighting; side-lighting can enhance the red content.

Perceptual richness may vary with finish: glossier finishes can intensify the color’s saturation, while matte finishes may mute it further.

PMS 682 C works best in settings where a strong but understated purple is needed—such as branding backdrops, exhibit components, or marketing displays demanding visual differentiation that is not overly bright. Due to its low reflectance, the color may look even darker in subdued lighting or shadowed architectural locations. Surfaces should be evenly prepared, as darker hues can emphasize flaws or unevenness. When compared to other purples, PMS 682 C sits in a balanced position between warmth and coolness, and its restrained chroma prevents it from appearing too loud or artificial.

  • PMS 690 C – Lighter and lower in saturation, offering a more pastel appearance.
  • PMS 2622 C – Slightly darker and deeper, with a cooler and bluer undertone.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 682 C

Will PMS 682 C require more coats for full coverage compared to less saturated Pantone colors?

PMS 682 C is a deep, moderately saturated purple that may require additional coats for uniform coverage. Highly saturated colors like PMS 682 C tend to have lower hide because of the pigments used to achieve vividness. For best brand-consistent results, plan for at least two coats, especially when applying over light or contrasting bases. Proper priming and even surface preparation also help achieve the intended color appearance.

How does surface texture affect the final look of PMS 682 C paint?

The appearance of PMS 682 C can vary with changes in surface texture. Glossy or smooth surfaces will reflect more light and can make the purple appear deeper and somewhat more saturated, while matte or textured surfaces may diffuse light and cause the color to look slightly lighter or more muted. Uneven or rough textures can also create visual shadowing, potentially affecting brand consistency. For projects where uniform color perception is critical, use a consistently prepared surface and specify finishes that align with your visual standard.

What should I know about shipping times for PMS 682 C Pantone-matched paint?

Shipping transit times for PMS 682 C Pantone-matched paint depend on your location and the shipping method selected at checkout. Custom-matched paints are made to order, so you should also factor in production time in addition to transit time. If your branding or marketing schedule is time-sensitive, plan ahead and consider expedited shipping options to ensure your project is not delayed.

Can I use PMS 682 C paint for precise touch-up of an existing coated part?

PMS 682 C paint is intended for brand color reproduction in marketing, display, and prototyping applications, not for touch-up of existing coatings. When a precise touch-up is needed, especially to blend with an existing part or finish, you should send a physical part for a custom match. This ensures the paint aligns with the actual appearance of your specific component rather than just the Pantone reference color.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 682 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 682 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 682 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
