PMS 639 C is part of the Pantone PMS system, widely used for precise color communication in branding, marketing, and industrial design. The color presents a clean, saturated, and recognizable blue with a moderate lightness and a cool, clear visual temperature. It conveys a technical, attention-getting, and visually engaging presence in both digital and physical formats.

PMS 639 C has a moderately deep lightness, with an LRV of 31.57, making it neither very light nor particularly dark. The color is distinctly cool in temperature, in line with its blue hue family. PMS 639 C shows high chroma, appearing vivid and strong without muted undertones. The undertone is clear and direct blue, with minimal visible influence from green or violet. The appearance of PMS 639 C can be impacted by finish and lighting; higher gloss enhances its saturation, while matte finishes may reduce visual brightness.

PMS 639 C works well when a project requires a robust, attention-grabbing blue with a standardized visual identity across multiple media. For consistent results, evaluate color samples under the actual lighting and finishes planned for final use, as gloss level and ambient light can noticeably alter appearance. This color may behave differently on various substrates due to its high saturation, potentially requiring multiple coats for full coverage, especially over lighter or uneven base layers; surface preparation and consistent application methods are important for visual uniformity.

Similar colors:
PMS 300 C – Similar hue but slightly lighter and less saturated, providing a softer blue impact.

PMS 7461 C – More chromatic and slightly deeper, delivers a more intense blue presence.

PMS 306 C – Lighter and more vibrant, leans toward a brighter, modern blue.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 639 C

Why is Pantone PMS 639 C not recommended as a touch-up specification for existing finishes?

Pantone PMS 639 C defines a standardized color target but does not specify finish, sheen, or substrate. Using PMS 639 C as a touch-up standard for existing coatings is not recommended because variations in gloss, surface condition, and application methods can cause visible differences. Pantone colors are intended for brand consistency in new projects, signage, and display creation, not for matching pre-existing finishes on repaired or previously coated items.

How should I specify Pantone PMS 639 C when ordering to ensure I receive the correct color?

When ordering Pantone PMS 639 C, always use the exact code and suffix, for example 'PMS 639 C.' This ensures you receive paint made to match the specific target defined by Pantone. Avoid ordering by name alone, since similar names can refer to different color standards within the Pantone system. Verifying the code and suffix removes ambiguity and reduces the risk of receiving the wrong color for your branding or display project.

What expedited production options are available for PMS 639 C paint if I have a deadline?

If you require PMS 639 C on a fast turnaround, expedited production is available as an option during online checkout. Selecting this speeds up order processing for urgent projects. If your deadline is critical, contact MyPerfectColor before ordering to confirm production and shipping timelines. This helps ensure you receive your PMS 639 C paint on schedule for brand events, marketing, or fabrication needs.

How much area does a spray can of PMS 639 C cover, and how do I estimate quantity?

One standard spray can of PMS 639 C typically covers about 20 square feet with a single coat, but actual coverage can vary based on application method, surface texture, and how many coats are needed. Because PMS 639 C is a highly saturated blue, additional coats may be required for full coverage over light or uneven surfaces. For estimating quantity, calculate your total project area and consider making allowances for multiple coats and any sample or test applications.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 639 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 639 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 639 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 639 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 639 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
