PMS 7461 C is a standardized selection from the Pantone PMS system, widely referenced in the print, display, and environmental branding sectors. The color presents as a bold, modern blue with a distinct cool tone and clear saturation, projecting a technical, contemporary, and highly visible presence. Its relatively deep appearance is balanced by a vibrant energy, making it operationally reliable for environments needing vivid communication.

PMS 7461 C appears as a distinctly deep blue, with a moderate light reflectance (LRV 17.59). The color has a cool visual temperature, leaning toward a blue-violet hue. It exhibits strong chroma, resulting in high saturation and visual boldness. The undertone of PMS 7461 C is cool, with minimal red or yellow influence. The color can be finish-sensitive; gloss or high-sheen applications will enhance its deep, saturated character, while matte finishes may reduce perceived vibrancy.

PMS 7461 C performs well in applications requiring high visual impact and color consistency across branded assets, signage, and fabricated display components. For paint applications, it is important to note that deep, saturated blues such as this can show variability under different lighting conditions—especially under warm or low-quality artificial light, where the color may lose intensity or shift hue. Multiple coats may be necessary to achieve full opacity, as highly saturated colors often offer less coverage than muted hues. Ensure substrate preparation and proper finish selection to maintain specification alignment with both the Pantone standard and intended design objectives.

PMS 300 C — A comparable blue that is slightly more neutral and less violet, offering a more classic corporate blue presence.

PMS 293 C — A deeper and slightly warmer blue, reading richer and with less pronounced coolness than PMS 7461 C.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7461 C

How do I make sure I am ordering the correct color when I need Pantone PMS 7461 C paint?

To ensure you receive the intended shade, always reference the exact Pantone code and suffix, such as PMS 7461 C, when ordering paint. Color names are sometimes used inconsistently, but the code and suffix define the specific color standard. If your project requires PMS 7461 C, confirm this full code appears in your order details to avoid unintended substitutions or mistakes.

Can I use Pantone PMS 7461 C paint for touch-up applications on existing parts or surfaces?

Pantone PMS 7461 C paint is formulated for brand color consistency on new fabrications, displays, or prototypes. For touch-up on existing items, variations in material, finish, and aging may lead to visible differences, even when using PMS 7461 C. If visual alignment with existing parts is critical, send a sample part for custom color matching rather than relying solely on the Pantone code.

How does surface texture affect the appearance of Pantone PMS 7461 C paint?

The look of Pantone PMS 7461 C can change depending on the texture of the painted surface. Glossy or smooth finishes tend to make this deep blue appear more vibrant and saturated, while matte or textured surfaces can soften the color and reduce its perceived intensity. Always consider both the color and substrate finish to achieve your desired brand or display result.

What application method is recommended for best results with Pantone PMS 7461 C spray paint?

Pantone PMS 7461 C is a vibrant, saturated blue, which may require more coats for opacity than muted colors. For a consistent finish, apply several light coats and allow proper drying time between coats. This approach helps prevent runs and uneven coverage, especially important for bold colors like PMS 7461 C.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 7461 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 7461 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 7461 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
