PMS 623 C is a Pantone Matching System (PMS) standard color from the Pantone PMS collection. Visually, it presents as a measured, cool blue-green with a noticeably low chroma compared to more vivid PMS greens, yielding an understated and technical quality. The overall vibe is reserved, modern, and dependable, frequently perceived as clean, composed, and neutral-leaning within branding environments.

PMS 623 C appears as a midtone shade, offering moderate visual brightness (LRV 46.7). The color has a distinctly cool undertone, positioned between blue and green with a slight blue lean. It exhibits moderate saturation, giving a muted and professional appearance rather than a vivid or highly chromatic effect. An underlying subtle gray inflection tempers the hue, increasing neutrality and versatility. The color is not especially sensitive to standard paint finishes but may appear slightly crisper in eggshell or matte applications relative to higher-gloss sheens. PMS 623 C is less likely to exhibit marked metamerism under mixed lighting but should be evaluated on representative substrates.

PMS 623 C functions well as a feature or background color in branded environments requiring a sense of calm, credibility, and visual restraint. It is often selected for situations where color fidelity to a cool, branded palette is critical, especially in institutional, healthcare, or technology-driven brand programs. PMS 623 C performs consistently on most substrates and is less prone to shifts caused by variable lighting than more saturated greens or blues, but always confirm appearance with a physical reference and sample paint under final lighting conditions. Compared to similar PMS colors, this shade offers a more subdued and versatile appearance, avoiding the assertiveness of brighter or more chromatic options.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 623 C

How can I ensure consistent results when reordering PMS 623 C for multiple projects?

To achieve consistent results with PMS 623 C across different orders, always use the same product type and finish (for example, spray paint in matte or gloss). Make sure to specify PMS 623 C as your reference target every time, and do not mix batches from different vendors or formats. Sampling the color under your installed lighting conditions before full production helps confirm acceptance. This approach minimizes batch-to-batch variations and keeps your branded visuals aligned.

When is ordering a standard Pantone PMS 623 C match the right choice?

Ordering a standard PMS 623 C match is most appropriate for marketing displays, event signage, prototypes, exhibit components, or brand installations where visible alignment with the Pantone reference is required. This ensures your color matches published Pantone standards, supporting cohesive experiences across temporary or brand-facing materials. If your project involves brand approval processes, variable lighting, or permanent installation, consider verifying with samples before final production.

Why is there no direct paint equivalent from other brands for Pantone PMS 623 C?

Pantone PMS 623 C is based on a Pantone standard, which does not directly translate to other paint brands' color codes or formulas. Each paint manufacturer creates unique palettes, so cross-references are usually only visual approximations. For projects requiring brand consistency and visual accuracy, always specify the Pantone PMS 623 C code rather than trying to find an equivalent from a different collection.

What product formats are available for Pantone PMS 623 C, and how should I choose?

PMS 623 C can be produced as custom spray paint, paint pens, brush-in-cap bottles, and other coating types suited for branding and display. Select the format based on your application method and project needs. For large surfaces, spray paint or housepaint may work best. For small detail work or samples, pens or bottles provide control. Available as custom spray paint and other paint formats for branding and display applications.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 623 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
