PMS 584 C from the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection is a vivid, yellow-leaning green that reads as fresh, lively, and distinctly modern. The color has a clean, high-visibility character, often perceived as energetic and contemporary. It balances a saturated appearance with enough lightness to remain readable against dark backgrounds, while remaining visually assertive in signage and display contexts.

PMS 584 C appears light in value (LRV 60.3), contributing to a sense of openness and brightness. The color skews warm due to its pronounced yellow component balanced by green. This color exhibits high chroma, presenting itself as noticeably vivid and saturated. PMS 584 C has a strong yellow-green undertone, making it immediately identifiable and less neutral than many standard greens. The color can be finish-sensitive; gloss can exaggerate its vibrancy while matte finishes may slightly mute its saturation.

PMS 584 C works well when used for bold graphics, accents, and branding elements that require high visibility and contemporary energy. It can be challenging to achieve uniform coverage over dark substrates due to its lightness and vibrancy, so a light-tinted primer may be necessary. Because the yellow-green hue shifts noticeably under different lighting conditions, color samples should always be viewed in the intended environment and finish. Compared to other yellow-based greens, PMS 584 C is more saturated and visually striking, making it less suitable as a background or field color but highly effective for attention focus.

Similar colors:
PMS 381 C – Slightly lighter and more fluorescent, making it appear even more vibrant under direct light.

PMS 382 C – Similar brightness, but with a more yellowish and slightly less green tone, presenting as a warmer shade.

PMS 583 C – A bit darker and more muted; less saturated and appearing more subdued in comparison to PMS 584 C.

PMS 389 C – Lighter and more muted, with a paler yellow-green that is less assertive.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 584 C

What is the difference between the Pantone PMS 584 C color name and its code, and how should I specify it when ordering paint?

Pantone PMS 584 C identifies a specific color in the Pantone Matching System. The code '584 C' is essential for accuracy, as Pantone offers similar colors with different codes and suffixes such as 'C' for coated, 'U' for uncoated, or 'M' for matte. Always provide the full code 'PMS 584 C' when ordering to ensure you receive the intended color standard. Relying on only the name or omitting the suffix can result in the wrong color target for your brand or display project.

How do I choose the right paint type for Pantone PMS 584 C for interior versus exterior applications?

For Pantone PMS 584 C, select your paint type based on where the painted surface will be located. Use an interior paint if all surfaces are kept indoors away from weather exposure. For any exterior application where surfaces face sunlight, moisture, or temperature changes, choose an exterior-grade paint. Make sure you specify the intended use when ordering so you receive a format formulated for that environment. This helps maintain color integrity and performance, especially for high-visibility or brand-focused displays.

Will Pantone PMS 584 C paint look exactly the same as the PMS 584 C color shown in a Pantone formula guide or chip book?

No, Pantone books and chips are printed color standards, while paint appearance can change based on sheen, substrate, and application method. When matching PMS 584 C in paint, expect some visual differences compared to a Pantone book, especially under different lighting or on less glossy surfaces. For brand-sensitive or prominent projects, always test a sample of PMS 584 C on your actual material in the intended finish before full production.

Do I need a primer before applying Pantone PMS 584 C paint, and when is it recommended?

PMS 584 C is a light and vivid shade that may require a primer, especially over dark or porous substrates, to achieve even color and proper hide. A light-tinted primer is recommended when coverage or color consistency is critical. Always assess your substrate and follow paint manufacturer guidance for primer selection based on your specific project environment and performance needs.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 584 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 584 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 584 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 584 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
