PMS 389 C is a standardized color from the Pantone PMS collection, used widely in professional graphic and print contexts requiring precise color matching. The vibe of PMS 389 C is energetic, highly visible, technical, attention-grabbing, and contemporary. Its appearance is characterized by a bright, clean, yellow-leaning green that provides strong contrast and stands out in environments where visibility and differentiation are priorities.
PMS 389 C appears as a light yellow-green with high visual brightness. The color tends toward the cool side due to its green and yellow blend but lacks strong blue influence. It has high saturation, resulting in a vivid, eye-catching effect. The undertone is distinctly yellow, contributing to a luminous and lively presence. With an LRV of 64.07, PMS 389 C provides substantial light reflectivity, so it appears very luminous in most contexts. PMS 389 C may display increased sensitivity to gloss and surface finish; gloss finishes will heighten its vibrancy, while matte finishes slightly subdue the effect.
PMS 389 C is often used in prototype and concept model production for brands seeking high visibility. The color is frequently specified in the signage and display industry where dynamic, contrasting colors are needed for wayfinding, informational graphics, and branded environments. It is commonly referenced in design literature for temporary retail displays and marketing installations where immediate visual impact is necessary.
PMS 389 C is typically chosen for projects emphasizing visibility and dynamism, especially in brand-centric or public-facing installations. It should be viewed in the intended lighting and finish, as brightness and perceived hue can shift—gloss will amplify its brightness, while matte reduces intensity. Because it is a highly chromatic yellow-green, coverage may require special attention; multiple coats can be necessary to ensure uniformity, especially over contrasting base colors or substrates. When matching across materials, always confirm accuracy with a physical Pantone reference and a painted sample in project-relevant conditions.

To avoid mistakes when ordering PMS 389 C, always use the full Pantone code including any suffix like 'C' for coated. Pantone codes such as PMS 389 C are precise color identification standards, not names alone. Do not substitute with just 'PMS 389' or rely on color descriptions, as similar names may refer to different shades or finishes. When placing your order, include the complete code as shown in your brand guidelines or project specifications. If there is any uncertainty, confirm your exact target with a physical Pantone guide or official reference before ordering.
If you are unsure which paint type or format will provide the best results for PMS 389 C, contact MyPerfectColor with details about your substrate, exposure conditions, and required finish. Expert assistance is available to help you achieve brand-consistent results on your specific project.
Pantone PMS 389 C is often specified in signage, display, and exhibit fabrication because it provides clear, high-visibility color that aligns with brand standards. When matching PMS 389 C for these applications, it is important to recognize that lighting, finish, and substrate will affect its appearance. For critical installations or high-profile brand spaces, it is best practice to test samples of PMS 389 C paint on your actual materials and under the intended lighting. Reviewing a painted sample with your team or client ensures the finished piece meets brand expectations for vibrancy and accuracy.
To achieve an even, brand-consistent result with PMS 389 C on large surfaces, apply paint in controlled, overlapping passes and plan for multiple coats if needed. Highly saturated colors like PMS 389 C may have lower hide, so priming with a compatible base color can help even out coverage. Use the same application technique and equipment throughout to minimize variation. Periodically inspect your work under the lighting planned for the final environment, as brightness can shift based on finish and angle. Taking these steps reduces the risk of patchy or uneven results, especially with intense, vivid colors.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 389 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
