PMS 562 C is a standard from the Pantone Matching System, known for its muted, cool-toned green appearance. It is frequently described as subdued, professional, understated, technical, and stable. The color is commonly specified in marketing, signage, and display fabrication due to its reliable brand alignment and visual neutrality. PMS 562 C provides a distinctive alternative to bolder greens, lending a reliable identity cue for visual environments where a refined, less saturated green is needed.

PMS 562 C appears relatively dark, with a low LRV of 13.84. The color has a cool tendency, influenced by a blue-green balance. PMS 562 C shows restrained saturation, neither vivid nor heavily neutralized. The color has underlying blue undertones, resulting in a subdued, sophisticated green. PMS 562 C is moderately sensitive to finish; gloss tends to enhance depth while matte reduces color strength.

PMS 562 C is specified when a cool, professional green with understated vibrancy is required in branding and built environments. It works well on both large and small surfaces, especially when consistency across different displays and substrates is critical. Users should account for the color's moderate sensitivity to lighting and finish, as glossier finishes can deepen its appearance, while matte or flat may make it look softer. When compared to similar greens, PMS 562 C reads more muted—avoiding the vividness or warmth seen in alternative shades.

Similar colors:
PMS 564 C – Slightly lighter and less muted, with a softer, more pastel appearance.

PMS 561 C – Noticeably darker and stronger, providing a deeper and richer green.

PMS 571 C – Lighter and cooler, showing more blue influence and greater brightness.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 562 C

How is Pantone PMS 562 C used in prototypes and concept models to achieve brand alignment?

Pantone PMS 562 C is often specified for prototypes and concept models when accurate brand color representation is a priority. Using PMS 562 C ensures that early stage models communicate the intended brand identity. It is recommended to select a paint format such as spray paint or paint pens based on model material and application needs. Prior to full production, test PMS 562 C on actual prototype materials to confirm color appearance, as finish and lighting can influence how the color reads compared to printed guides or digital references.

What should I consider when applying Pantone PMS 562 C to plastics or low energy surfaces?

When applying Pantone PMS 562 C to plastic or low energy surfaces, surface preparation is critical since adhesion can vary depending on the material. Many plastics require the use of a specialized primer designed to promote paint adhesion. Always test PMS 562 C paint on the actual plastic you plan to use for your project, as some materials may resist coatings. Confirm adhesion and final color appearance before proceeding with larger production runs to avoid performance or color alignment issues.

Why is Pantone PMS 562 C used for signs, displays, and exhibit fabrication?

Pantone PMS 562 C is chosen for signs, displays, and exhibit components when consistent brand color is specified. Using PMS 562 C as a reference ensures that fabricated elements visually align with brand guidelines. Before committing to production, it is best practice to apply a sample of PMS 562 C on the actual intended substrate. This helps confirm the color's appearance takes into account the effects of substrate, sheen, and lighting conditions-important steps for meeting brand expectations in finished environments.

When is it appropriate to order a standard Pantone PMS 562 C paint match?

Ordering a standard Pantone PMS 562 C paint match is appropriate for most marketing, display, exhibit, and prototyping applications where alignment with the Pantone PMS standard is the goal. PMS 562 C is suitable for cases where visual brand consistency on fabricated or conceptual elements takes priority over matching specific substrates or legacy colors. If your project requires samples for visual sign-off or involves several different substrate types, testing on actual materials is recommended before full production.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 562 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
