PMS 561 C is a standardized color in the Pantone PMS system, recognized for its deep, cool, and corporate character. The color has an understated, technical, stable, and serious visual impression. It is favored in professional environments where a sense of reliability and clarity is required, often supporting brand-aligned presentations and ensuring consistent reproduction across print, display, and fabricated elements.
PMS 561 C is visually dark, with a low light reflectance value (LRV 9.54). The color is cool due to its blue-green hue. PMS 561 C exhibits moderate chroma, resulting in a muted and subdued rather than vibrant or neon appearance. The undertone leans towards blue, with green presence, making it less yellowed or earthy. The color may show marked sensitivity to finish and lighting, appearing deeper and more formal in matte finishes and somewhat richer in gloss.
PMS 561 C is often used in wayfinding systems or branded signage where a sophisticated, non-intrusive color is required. The color is commonly referenced in print and collateral design for brands seeking a restrained but distinct blue-green.
PMS 561 C is an effective choice when a dark, cool, and subtly blue-green shade is needed for controlled brand environments or display work. For best results, evaluate the color under final lighting conditions and finish type, as it can look significantly deeper in low light and more intense with high-gloss finishes. Unlike lighter or more saturated greens, PMS 561 C typically hides well but may require careful substrate preparation to avoid unevenness due to its depth. When considering substitutes, note that this color’s blue undertone distinguishes it from more neutral or olive greens.
This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

Ordering Pantone PMS 561 C as paint means you are requesting a color matched to the Pantone reference color number 561 C. This is a standardized visual target, not a specific paint formula or finish. The paint will be mixed to visually match PMS 561 C as closely as possible in the selected product type and sheen. The Pantone PMS code does not define manufacturing process, chemical composition, or gloss level. For brand consistency, always confirm appearance against a physical Pantone reference and sample paint in your intended lighting and finish.
Sampling is recommended for PMS 561 C if your project is high-visibility, involves large surfaces, or must meet strict brand standards. Because PMS 561 C is a deep blue-green, its appearance can vary noticeably depending on lighting conditions, substrate, and finish type. For brand displays, signage, or permanent installations, order a sample to confirm the color meets expectations before proceeding with full production.
Safety and VOC requirements for paint matched to Pantone PMS 561 C depend on the base paint or coating you select. Always review the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) supplied with your chosen product for specific handling, ventilation, and disposal guidelines. Follow all instructions for safe use, including personal protective equipment and proper storage, regardless of color.
To achieve a uniform appearance with PMS 561 C paint on large areas, use consistent application methods, plan your work to maintain a wet edge, and apply enough coats for full coverage. Pay special attention to substrate preparation, as dark colors like PMS 561 C can reveal unevenness or surface defects. Evaluate the painted surface in the final lighting conditions and finish before approving the result.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
