PMS 564 C from the Pantone PMS system is a light, muted turquoise with a subtle, contemporary influence. The color presents a soft, clean appearance with a distinctly cool undertone, giving it an understated yet modern vibe. Common descriptors for its effect include fresh, calming, technical, understated, and brand-forward. With a Light Reflectance Value (LRV) of 53.21, PMS 564 C falls into the lighter midtone category, providing moderate brightness and visibility against both darker and lighter backgrounds. In design, it is chosen for its ability to evoke a sense of clarity and renewal without being overpowering.

- PMS 564 C appears light to midtone in value, with moderate brightness (LRV 53.21). - The color displays a cool temperature, defined by a blue-green base and slight aqua cast. - It has modest saturation, resulting in a subdued—not vivid—presentation. - This color carries a gentle green undertone, balanced by bluish notes, which keeps the effect from feeling overly warm or yellow. - PMS 564 C may show perceptual shifts based on lighting type (natural vs. artificial) and finish (matte vs. gloss). - The color’s relative neutrality enhances versatility in professional brand palettes while avoiding clinical sterility.

PMS 564 C is frequently selected where a brand or display environment requires a sense of modern freshness and subtle distinction without high visual intensity. It performs well in signage, display units, environmental branding, and prototype models where brand alignment is critical. Accurate color perception can depend on both lighting and finish; variations in gloss or surface texture may shift the perceived temperature and brightness of this color. Since PMS 564 C is less saturated, it provides relatively reliable coverage compared to more vivid PMS tones, but pretesting on different substrates and under intended lighting conditions is recommended to confirm brand consistency.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 564 C

Why can PMS 564 C look different on plastic versus metal or other materials?

The appearance of PMS 564 C may vary across materials due to differences in absorption, surface texture, and reflectivity. For example, plastics can scatter light differently than metals, altering how the color is perceived. A glossier, smoother surface may appear brighter or slightly deeper than a matte or textured one. For accurate brand consistency with PMS 564 C, it is best to evaluate color samples on the actual materials and finishes you plan to use in your project.

Should I choose matte or gloss for my PMS 564 C brand display, and what impacts will this have?

For PMS 564 C, the choice between matte and gloss finish affects how the color is seen and how branding reads under various conditions. Matte finishes reduce glare and minimize reflections, making them useful for displays viewed under strong lights or at close range. Gloss finishes can make PMS 564 C look more saturated and vivid, but higher reflectivity may cause distracting glare, especially on large or vertical surfaces. Consider the intended lighting and viewing distance for your installation when selecting the finish to ensure the desired visual impact.

Is it enough to specify 'Pantone Teal' or do I need the full PMS 564 C code when ordering?

Always use the exact Pantone code PMS 564 C when ordering paint or coatings for your project. Pantone color names can be ambiguous or similar across different colors, while the code PMS 564 C ensures you are referencing the correct color standard for brand and marketing applications. Double check for suffixes like 'C' to avoid ordering the wrong shade.

How should I apply PMS 564 C spray paint to get the best result?

When using PMS 564 C spray paint, apply several light coats rather than one heavy coat. Allow each coat to dry properly before applying the next. This approach helps achieve even coverage, reduces the risk of runs or drips, and gives a professional finish that stays true to the intended Pantone appearance. Testing on a small area or a sample panel is recommended to refine your process based on your material and workspace conditions.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 564 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 564 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
