PMS 5425 C is a Pantone Matching System (PMS) standard color found in the Pantone PMS collection. This color presents a soft, muted blue appearance with distinctly cool undertones. The overall vibe is technical, understated, modern, balanced, and adaptable. It is frequently selected for environments needing a composed, professional look with a blue character that is neither bold nor overly vibrant.

PMS 5425 C appears medium in lightness, with an LRV of 29.25, resulting in perceptibly moderate reflectance and visibility. The color exhibits a cool temperature, with blue-gray undertones dominating its appearance. It offers restrained saturation, contributing to a desaturated, subtly professional look. This color maintains a neutral-to-cool undertone, minimizing vividness and lending itself to subdued application. PMS 5425 C can exhibit noticeable shifts depending on the finish; higher sheens may increase its visual clarity, while mattes can enhance its muted quality.

PMS 5425 C is effective where a cool, blue-toned color is needed without the assertiveness of more chromatic blues. It works well in controlled lighting and architectural environments, where a neutral, contemporary aesthetic is required. Take particular care in evaluating the color under intended lighting conditions, as both finish and ambient light can appreciably alter the perceived tonality. Compared to other blues, PMS 5425 C leans more toward gray and less toward brightness or vividness, so ensure surrounding surfaces and materials are compatible with its understated demeanor.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 5425 C

How should I use Pantone PMS 5425 C paint when creating prototypes or concept models to ensure brand color alignment?

When using Pantone PMS 5425 C in prototypes or concept models, select a paint format that matches your substrate and project requirements, such as spray paint for even coverage or paint pens for smaller details. It is essential to evaluate the color under the same lighting and finish conditions expected in the final application, as PMS 5425 C can look different depending on gloss and ambient light. Always test a sample on your chosen material before moving to full production to confirm the color reflects your intended brand alignment. This process helps avoid surprises and supports faster brand approval for your prototype or mockup.

What should I consider when applying Pantone PMS 5425 C paint to plastics or low-energy surfaces?

Plastics and other low-energy surfaces often need special surface preparation to achieve proper adhesion with Pantone PMS 5425 C paint. Surface types and plastic chemistry vary widely, so use a compatible primer designed for plastic if needed. Always apply a test coat of PMS 5425 C to a sample or an inconspicuous area of your actual material before production runs. This helps confirm both color appearance and adhesion performance before you commit to the full job. Skipping this testing step increases the risk of poor adhesion or unsatisfactory brand color presentation.

What does it mean to order Pantone PMS 5425 C paint, and what am I actually getting?

When you order Pantone PMS 5425 C paint, you are getting a paint product formulated to visually match the standardized Pantone 5425 C color target. Pantone PMS codes are standardized reference points, not specific paint recipes or coating processes. This means PMS 5425 C paint from MyPerfectColor is matched to look like the Pantone standard under typical conditions but may appear different depending on substrate, finish, and lighting. Always review a physical sample and select the correct finish and format for your needs to achieve your brand consistency goals.

How do I choose the right paint type for Pantone PMS 5425 C for interior versus exterior brand applications?

To use Pantone PMS 5425 C effectively in brand settings, match the paint type to your exposure conditions. For interiors, standard or specialty finishes work in most controlled environments. For exteriors, select an exterior-rated paint to handle weather and UV exposure. Confirm the finish (matte, satin, gloss) that best supports your visual intent, as sheen can change how PMS 5425 C looks. If in doubt, test under actual site lighting before final application to ensure the color performs as intended in your space.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 5425 C?

Can I use the Pantone PMS 5425 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
