PMS 5295 C (Pantone Matching System) is a desaturated, soft blue-violet that is frequently described as calm, understated, and technical. Its mid-range lightness (LRV 39.34) provides enough contrast to differentiate graphics or surfaces, while the gentle hue and low chroma impart a restrained, professional appearance. This color is valued for its understated clarity and reliability in applications where a specific, low-key brand tone is needed.

- PMS 5295 C displays a moderate lightness, falling in a mid-light range with an LRV of 39.34. - The color exhibits a cool temperature, with clear blue-violet notes. - This color maintains a low to moderate saturation, appearing soft and muted rather than vivid. - PMS 5295 C has an underlying blue base with a subtle lavender-gray undertone. - The color can be somewhat finish sensitive: glossier finishes may enhance the blue notes, while matte finishes may emphasize the muted, dusty quality.

- PMS 5295 C is often specified for environments where a gentle corporate or institutional presence is required.

PMS 5295 C works well when a subdued brand accent or background color is needed, particularly for signage, displays, and graphic panels in professional settings. It is visually stable under typical office or exhibit lighting, but both finish and lighting can influence the balance of blue and violet tones; field review of physical samples in the planned location is recommended before large-scale use. Compared to more saturated or lighter blues, PMS 5295 C reads as more neutral and less likely to overpower adjoining colors, but may appear grayer or more washed out in low light or on highly textured surfaces.

Similar colors:
PMS 5285 C is lighter and slightly more chromatic, presenting a paler appearance with increased color purity.

PMS 5305 C is darker and has a stronger gray undertone, giving a more subdued, shadowed effect.

PMS 5425 C is comparably light but shifts noticeably cooler and less violet, reading as a blue-gray.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 5295 C

How closely will PMS 5295 C paint match the color shown in the official Pantone book?

A Pantone book provides the reference standard for PMS 5295 C, but painted surfaces may appear different due to factors like finish, material, and lighting. The ink on Pantone swatch books is not the same as a spray paint or coated metal panel. If exact appearance under real-world conditions is important, it is best to sample PMS 5295 C on the actual substrate and finish you plan to use. Reviewing samples in their intended lighting helps set correct expectations for brand and client approvals.

What is the recommended application technique for Pantone PMS 5295 C spray paint to get the best color result?

For PMS 5295 C, achieve a brand-consistent finish by applying several thin coats instead of one thick coat. Allow a short flash time between coats so each layer dries before applying the next. This helps prevent drips, improves coverage, and builds up color evenly, especially when matching Pantone targets on flat or display surfaces.

When ordering, should I reference the name PMS 5295 C or just the number for Pantone paint?

To ensure you receive the correct color, always specify the full Pantone code, in this case, PMS 5295 C. The letter 'C' indicates the coated series, which is the key reference in Pantone systems. Do not rely on color names alone, as similar colors may have similar names. Using the exact code helps avoid confusion and makes sure your order targets the right color for your brand or project requirements.

What should I know about coverage and undercoats when using PMS 5295 C paint?

PMS 5295 C is a soft, desaturated blue-violet, and may require multiple coats for full and even coverage, especially over contrasting surfaces. For best results, consider starting with a uniform, neutral undercoat to reduce show-through and achieve a more consistent color appearance. Planning for extra coats improves the look of branded finishes, especially on graphics or displays where evenness is important.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 5295 C?

Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 5295 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
