Do not assume that all PMS 5255 C products have the same safety requirements, as formulations vary.

Sheen has a notable influence on the look of PMS 5255 C due to its dark, cool-violet character and low reflectance. Glossy finishes will make the color appear deeper and may reveal more chroma under bright light, while matte finishes will emphasize its subtlety and can make the color look almost black in low light. For brand displays or signage, select sheen based on viewing distance, surface type, and lighting conditions typical of your installation. Consider evaluating finish options with a physical sample if appearance under real-world lighting is critical.

The durability of PMS 5255 C spray paint depends on substrate preparation, the specific paint chemistry selected, and environmental exposure. PMS 5255 C is a very dark color with moderate saturation, and it typically needs careful surface preparation for best results. Using a dark, uniform undercoat can help achieve even coverage and reduce the chance of patchiness, especially on larger or highly visible surfaces. Plan for at least two coats to reach full depth and uniformity. Testing a sample area is recommended to confirm ideal coverage for your substrate and application method.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
