PMS 525 C is part of the Pantone PMS collection, a system widely used for standardized color specification in branding, marketing, and industrial design contexts. The overall vibe of PMS 525 C is bold, rich, and commanding, with a technical and contemporary character that sets it apart from more muted or neutral purples. It is most often cited as a color that conveys sophistication, creativity, and a distinctive presence in professional applications.
PMS 525 C presents as a very dark hue, with a low LRV of 3.8, indicating minimal light reflectance. The color has a clearly cool tendency, leaning towards violet with visible blue undertones. This color is highly saturated, giving it a vivid and intense appearance rather than a muted one. PMS 525 C features a pronounced cool violet undertone, which becomes stronger under certain lighting conditions. The depth and saturation of the color may result in sensitivity to gloss or sheen; higher-gloss finishes can increase visual vibrancy, while matte or flat finishes may appear slightly softer and deeper.
PMS 525 C performs well as a brand color when a dramatic, high-impact purple is required, ensuring strong differentiation from more conventional reds, blues, or standard purples. Due to its low reflectance and intense chroma, evenness of application is crucial, especially in large areas or under bright direct lighting. Application on smooth, well-prepared surfaces helps achieve uniformity and prevent streaking. When specifying PMS 525 C, be mindful that variation in finish, substrate, and lighting may noticeably affect the apparent depth and vibrancy compared to the Pantone reference. When compared to similar purples, PMS 525 C is generally deeper and cooler, providing more visual weight and less warmth.
Similar colors:
PMS 527 C is a similar purple but appears lighter and somewhat more vivid, with a slightly higher chromatic intensity.
PMS 268 C offers a comparable darkness but reads as cooler, with a bluer undertone.
PMS 2607 C is akin to PMS 525 C, though it is somewhat lighter and carries a warmer, more magenta-influenced tone.

When selecting PMS 525 C for pop-ups or retail spaces, prioritize evaluating durability, lighting conditions, and real-world surface compatibility. Due to its depth and high saturation, PMS 525 C may look different under various lighting types and on different substrates. Sampling PMS 525 C on the actual surface and viewing it under the intended lighting is highly recommended before committing to large installations. For maximum uniformity, apply to smooth, properly prepared surfaces. Choose finishes based on your durability needs; higher-gloss may look more vibrant, while matte may appear deeper. Always confirm acceptance with stakeholders prior to full rollout.

PMS 525 C paint is mixed to match the Pantone standard as closely as possible, but differences in sheen, substrate, and application method can cause the color to appear different from the Pantone book reference. The Pantone book is a reference standard and does not reflect all possible finishes or materials. For the best accuracy, sample PMS 525 C paint on the actual surface and evaluate it under the specific lighting where it will be used before proceeding with full-scale production.
When applying PMS 525 C to plastics or low-energy surfaces, keep in mind that adhesion can vary significantly by material type. Many plastics require specialized primers or surface preparation steps to ensure proper adhesion and durability. Always test PMS 525 C paint on a sample of the actual plastic or surface before full production. This helps verify performance, coverage, and final appearance in your specific application.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 525 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
