To achieve consistent results when reordering Pantone PMS 520 C, use the same product type, sheen, and substrate as your initial project. Always compare results to the same Pantone reference or previously approved paint sample under your intended lighting. Changing product formats or finish can lead to visible variation in depth and richness for this deep purple, especially due to its strong visual impact. Whenever possible, document your approval approach and reference for future runs.

For Pantone PMS 520 C, a primer is recommended if you are coating bare materials, surfaces with staining potential, or switching between high-contrast colors. Because PMS 520 C is highly saturated and has low light reflectance, using a primer can also improve coverage uniformity and color accuracy, especially over lighter substrates. Refer to individual product guidance for specific primer recommendations based on paint type and substrate.

VOCs and safety procedures for Pantone PMS 520 C paint depend on the product you order, such as spray paint or other formats. Always review the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for your chosen product and follow safe application practices suitable for your work environment. Use proper ventilation and personal protective equipment as required by the product type.

Sampling Pantone PMS 520 C is strongly recommended for high-visibility brand projects, large installations, or when you need to assess the color on specific materials or under final lighting conditions. PMS 520 C can appear noticeably different with changes in lighting or gloss level due to its deep, saturated quality. Reviewing a sample helps confirm that the results meet brand requirements before committing to full-scale production.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
