Pantone® PMS 5175 C . Paint And Spray Paint. MyPerfectColor is the official licensee of Pantone and authorized to reproduce the Pantone Matching System colors in spray paint and other paints.

PMS 5175 C is part of the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection, which is widely used for precise color specification in branding, signage, and display fabrication. The color is best described as muted, understated, and cool with a noticeably soft and professional demeanor. It lends a gentle and contemporary vibe, falling into the light-to-mid lavender family, well-suited for environments where a restrained use of purple is desired while maintaining visual differentiation.

- PMS 5175 C appears notably light, with a higher light reflectance value (LRV 67.99). - The color exhibits a cool tendency, derived from its purple base and low chroma. - PMS 5175 C shows low to moderate saturation; its appearance is muted rather than vivid. - This color reveals soft, grayish undertones, tempering its lavender hue. - Finish selection can shift perceived saturation; more matte finishes will further mute, while gloss can heighten subtle undertone contrasts.

PMS 5175 C works well in brand environments and marketing installations where a light, understated purple communicates subtly differentiated brand identity without overwhelming a space. Assess lighting conditions carefully, as both finish and ambient light can alter its perception—cooled further in daylight and more muted in artificial or low light. Compared to other purples, PMS 5175 C is distinctly less saturated, making it less likely to dominate when used in combination with brand accent colors.

Similar colors:
PMS 5165 C – Slightly lighter and less muted, yielding a more delicate lavender effect.

PMS 5185 C – Darker and richer, showing greater chroma and a deeper, more pronounced purple.

PMS 7672 C – Bluer and a step more vivid, appearing cooler and more assertive than PMS 5175 C.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 5175 C

Does Pantone PMS 5175 C require special consideration for paint coverage and hide?

Pantone PMS 5175 C is a light, muted lavender with moderate saturation. While it is not as intense as some vivid Pantone colors, achieving full and uniform coverage may still require multiple coats, especially over dark or contrasting substrates. For best results and to minimize show-through, use a white or light primer base and plan for at least two finish coats. Always assess your specific substrate and application needs before finalizing quantities.

How do I order paint matched to Pantone PMS 5175 C on MyPerfectColor?

To order paint for Pantone PMS 5175 C, first select your desired product type, such as spray paint, paint pens, or housepaint. Next, choose the finish or sheen (for example, gloss, satin, or matte) appropriate for your project requirements. Specify the quantity you need and review any available size or format options. Confirm your selections in the cart before completing your purchase. If you have questions about format or finish, review the product details or contact MyPerfectColor for guidance on brand and marketing applications.

How does the finish affect the appearance of Pantone PMS 5175 C?

The finish you select for Pantone PMS 5175 C can significantly impact its perceived saturation and brightness. Matte finishes will mute the color further, softening its lavender undertones. Gloss or satin finishes can make the same color appear brighter and slightly more saturated, with increased contrast in surface lighting. When consistency of visual appearance is critical, specify both the PMS code and the desired finish for all components in your project. Always evaluate the finish in the intended lighting environment when possible.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 5175 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
