Pantone™ PMS 514 C

For best results, the substrate should be clean, dry, and properly primed prior to painting. For environments with high exposure to abrasion, moisture, or UV, consider adding a compatible clearcoat for added protection. If long-term wear or outdoor exposure is expected, select a paint system formulated for those specific conditions. Always confirm that your chosen format aligns with your application requirements to achieve both visual impact and longevity.

Before applying Pantone PMS 514 C to metal or powder coated surfaces, ensure any existing coatings are clean, lightly scuffed, and free of gloss to maximize adhesion and color uniformity. The condition and sheen of the existing coat can affect how PMS 514 C appears, especially since finish sensitivity is greater with vivid, saturated colors. For critical applications, ordering a sample on your intended surface is recommended to confirm color match and finish before proceeding with full installation.

Pantone PMS 514 C is a proprietary standard unique to Pantone and does not reliably convert to other paint company collections. Most paint brands develop their own color palettes, and vivid Pantone shades like PMS 514 C are rarely found as exact equivalents elsewhere. For brand consistency, it is best to order PMS 514 C by code rather than selecting a cross-referenced color from a different paint company, as appearance differences are likely.

Pantone PMS 514 C is intended for consistent brand reproduction, not for matching to existing parts for touch-up purposes. If you require a precise match to an existing asset, send a physical part or sample for custom matching rather than ordering a standard PMS 514 C paint. This ensures the result takes into account any surface or finish variations present on the original part.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
