PMS 511 C, from the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection, presents as a dark, subdued violet with strong muted red undertones. The color vibe is authoritative, corporate, reserved, and sophisticated, supporting applications that demand visual weight without excessive vibrancy.
PMS 511 C displays a very low light reflectance value (LRV 4.42), reading as distinctly dark in most environments. The color has a cool undertone, leaning toward a muted purple with a slightly red bias owing to its hue angle. Saturation is moderate, providing evident color presence without significant chromatic intensity. PMS 511 C exhibits understated, deep undertones rather than vivid brightness. This color is finish-sensitive; glossier finishes may amplify depth and accentuate coolness, while matte surfaces may appear even more subdued.
PMS 511 C works well in branded environments, signage, and display components where a strong, corporate purple is needed without overt brightness or high saturation. Care should be taken in low-light installations, as the deep tone may appear almost black under some conditions. The color is susceptible to visible gloss variation and may require careful surface preparation to minimize unevenness. When compared to similar dark purples, PMS 511 C maintains a slightly softer, less vivid presence, helping it read as formal and controlled in a range of finishes and lighting situations.
Similar colors:
PMS 2623 C – Slightly lighter and more chromatic, with a more pronounced violet character.
PMS 2695 C – A darker, more neutralized purple, reading closer to black in low light.
PMS 512 C – Warmer and more saturated, with a more noticeable magenta influence.

Pantone PMS 511 C is often specified as the color target for brand-facing signage, displays, and exhibit components to ensure consistent brand identity across manufactured elements. In these contexts, fabricators use PMS 511 C to meet brand standards for color accuracy on visible surfaces. For best results, it is recommended to evaluate a sample of PMS 511 C applied to the real substrate and inspected under the intended lighting, as finish and lighting can notably affect the perceived color and gloss. Sampling helps confirm that the selected coating meets project and brand expectations before committing to full production.
Ordering a sample of PMS 511 C is strongly recommended before fabricating a large quantity of branded elements. Sampling allows you to verify the color on the exact substrate and under the actual lighting conditions where the finished piece will be displayed. This step is critical, as materials and coatings can impact final appearance and gloss, especially with deep tones like PMS 511 C. Brand teams can review and approve the sample to ensure the finished installation will match expectations, helping avoid costly remakes or disputes later in the process.
PMS 511 C is a dark, muted violet that can appear quite different depending on the substrate, finish, and lighting conditions. Matching Pantone colors across metals, plastics, and coatings may result in minor appearance differences due to how each material interacts with the colorant and gloss. Deeper, less reflective colors like PMS 511 C are especially sensitive to surface preparation and sheen. MyPerfectColor produces custom matches targeting the Pantone PMS 511 C standard, but we recommend reviewing a sample to confirm the match is visually acceptable for your specific application before proceeding with production.
One spray can of PMS 511 C generally covers about 20 to 25 square feet per coat on a smooth, non-porous surface. Actual coverage will depend on the texture and color of the substrate, the application method, and the number of coats required to achieve full color and opacity. Because PMS 511 C is a dark, muted color, additional coats may be needed for uniform appearance, especially if covering a light base. When estimating quantity, consider sampling first to determine how many coats are needed for your specific surface and application technique.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 511 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
