PMS 461 C is a Pantone Matching System (PMS) standard color recognized for its soft, muted yellow-beige appearance and high light reflectance. This color fits within the Pantone PMS collection, frequently used in branding, marketing, and fabrication where visual consistency is prioritized. PMS 461 C conveys a subdued, approachable, and adaptable vibe; it is typically described as light, neutral, earthy, warm, and quiet.

Pantone color matches are provided for visual reference only. Variations may occur between Pantone PMS paint and the official PMS color standard due to differences in materials, processes, gloss, and lighting. Always confirm suitability and color accuracy for your specific application.

PMS 461 C appears as a light color; its measured LRV is 76.3, indicating strong light reflectance and a pale appearance.

The color is warm-leaning, with undertones of yellow and beige that give it an earthy and inviting impression.

PMS 461 C displays moderate saturation, resulting in a gentle, non-vivid effect suitable for supporting roles rather than drawing focal attention.

The yellow-beige undertone is clearly present, avoiding overt brightness or coolness.

Finish sensitivity is moderate; glossier finishes can increase the perceived warmth and slight richness, while matte finishes may result in a more understated, flat look.

PMS 461 C is often used as a background or secondary color in brand identity systems, particularly where a quiet, neutral, or natural visual component is specified.

The color is sometimes selected for product packaging, signage, or display elements seeking a soft yet professional appearance.

PMS 461 C is a practical choice for applications where a soft, light-neutral tone is needed to complement bolder brand colors or to create unobtrusive, readable backgrounds in display and signage. The color holds up well under a variety of lighting conditions but may appear warmer or slightly more yellow under incandescent or warm-white LED lighting. For best results, evaluate the color on a large sample in the intended finish and lighting. While PMS 461 C is forgiving on surface preparation due to its lightness, variations in sheen can influence its perceived warmth and subtlety.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 468 C – Slightly lighter and less chromatic, offering a more subtle and off-white impression.
  • PMS 453 C – Somewhat darker and with a more pronounced olive-beige tone, creating a duskier effect.
  • PMS 7499 C – Lighter and cooler, with a pronounced creaminess compared to the warmer beige of PMS 461 C.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 461 C

How is PMS 461 C typically used in brand and display applications?

PMS 461 C is widely selected for background and secondary roles in brand identity systems, displays, and signage where a light neutral appearance is required. Its subdued yellow-beige tone helps support bolder brand colors and maintain readability in marketing environments. While PMS 461 C is not associated with a specific global brand, it is a common choice for environments needing a quiet, natural visual presence in displays, retail, and event settings. This makes it suitable for supporting consistent, brand-approved palettes in marketing and fabrication projects.

What should I know about shipping and transit times for PMS 461 C paint orders?

Shipping transit times for PMS 461 C paint depend on your delivery location and the shipping method you choose at checkout. Most orders ship within standard production times, but transit duration can vary widely based on selected services and distance from our facility. If your project has a strict deadline, plan ahead and consider expedited shipping options. Processing and transit times are separate, so review both factors before placing an order with specific timing requirements.

Why is licensed reproduction important for Pantone PMS 461 C paint?

Pantone PMS 461 C is a licensed color standard, not just a generic yellow-beige paint. MyPerfectColor is authorized to reproduce Pantone PMS colors based on official color targets, supporting consistent brand representation across materials and formats. Choosing a licensed and authorized supplier for PMS 461 C ensures your color match is targeted to the Pantone reference, helping you achieve accurate, brand-consistent results for displays, signage, and marketing installations.

How should I prepare surfaces before applying PMS 461 C paint for brand projects?

Proper surface preparation is essential for getting the best results with PMS 461 C paint. Before painting, clean the surface to remove dust, oils, and residues. For glossy or previously painted surfaces, light scuff sanding may improve adhesion. Always degrease metals and plastics. Test a small area whenever possible in the intended finish and lighting. Excellent surface prep helps achieve a smooth, brand-consistent appearance and maximizes color accuracy for marketing, display, or fabrication applications.

Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 461 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
