PMS 453 C (Pantone PMS system) is recognized as a light, neutralized beige with an olive-green cast. The overall vibe is muted, earthy, calm, technical, and utilitarian. With a measured lightness and subtle complexity, this color provides a quiet, sophisticated background well-suited for applications seeking a subdued or natural effect.

PMS 453 C presents as a light, desaturated beige with an olive-green undertone. The color leans slightly warm due to its yellow-green base but remains overall neutral in appearance. The moderate chroma results in a less saturated, more understated look. The measured LRV of 54.93 indicates it reflects a moderate amount of light, contributing to its visibility without high contrast. Undertones are subdued, with a persistent muted olive note. The color is largely insensitive to finish selection; variation between matte and gloss is perceptible but generally subtle.

PMS 453 C is effective where a natural, understated, or utilitarian effect is needed, especially in brand environments or exhibit spaces desiring a neutral background that avoids stark whiteness or high saturation. It can be sensitive to adjacent colors; pairing with strong hues may draw out the olive undertone, while use alongside other neutrals can appear more beige. Lighting conditions with excessive warmth may exaggerate the yellow-green cast, so color evaluation in final installation lighting is recommended. Compared to similar colors, it offers a balance between lightness and subtle color character without appearing overly cool or stark.

This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 453 C

What are the challenges of matching Pantone PMS 453 C in paint, and how does MyPerfectColor address them?

Pantone PMS 453 C is defined by the Pantone Matching System, which sets an exact color target rather than a specific paint formula. Matching this standard in paint can be challenging due to the influence of material, finish, and lighting. MyPerfectColor formulates paint to visually align with Pantone PMS 453 C using both the official Pantone reference and real-world paint samples. It is recommended to verify color using a physical Pantone guide and a painted sample in your intended conditions to ensure it meets your brand and project requirements.

Where can I find the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for paint made in Pantone PMS 453 C?

The SDS for paint matched to Pantone PMS 453 C is determined by the paint type and not by the color code itself. To access the relevant SDS, select the product and format you plan to use, then refer to the SDS section for that product on the MyPerfectColor website. If you have ordered spray paint or another format in PMS 453 C, review the SDS for your selected paint type to obtain safety and handling information.

How does surface texture affect the appearance of Pantone PMS 453 C when painted?

The appearance of Pantone PMS 453 C can be influenced by the surface texture to which it is applied. A smooth, flat surface will display the color more uniformly, while rough or textured surfaces can create minor shadowing or reflectivity effects that may cause PMS 453 C to appear slightly darker or less saturated. Although PMS 453 C is less sensitive to finish changes than some brighter colors, evaluating a paint sample on your actual substrate is recommended for final approval.

How much area does one spray can of Pantone PMS 453 C cover, and how should I estimate quantity for my project?

One standard spray can of paint matched to Pantone PMS 453 C typically covers about 20 to 25 square feet per coat under ideal conditions. Actual coverage may vary depending on the surface texture, color of the substrate, and application technique. For best results, calculate the total square footage and consider the required number of coats for full coverage, especially if covering contrasting surfaces. Ordering extra cans is recommended if color uniformity is critical for your brand or display installation.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 453 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 453 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 453 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How much area will one spray can cover? And what is Pantone PMS 453 C spray paint made of?

To make spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 453 C. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen. Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 453 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 453 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
