PMS 459 C is a standard color from the Pantone Matching System collection. It is characterized by a muted, subtle yellow appearance with a noticeable warm undertone and moderate saturation. The color presents a light, approachable, and understated vibe, often described as calm, stable, and functionally supportive. The numeric LRV of 64.07 classifies it as a relatively light color, contributing to its utility in large-scale graphics and background brand elements.

PMS 459 C appears as a light color with a numeric LRV of 64.07. The color shows a clear warm tendency, with undertones drawn from both yellow and a slight earthy beige influence. PMS 459 C maintains moderate saturation; it is neither vivid nor strongly chromatic, lending a natural, approachable quality. The color’s undertone is gently muted yellow, avoiding bright or acidic overtones. PMS 459 C can demonstrate some sensitivity to finish, with matte and gloss sheens impacting its perceived lightness and subtlety.

PMS 459 C works well where a light, warm yellow is desired without sharp brightness or strong chroma. This color remains legible and welcoming across print and painted surfaces, supporting contrast with darker accent colors but avoiding visual harshness. When applying this color, check appearance in final lighting conditions, as it may shift cooler or warmer depending on ambient light and surface gloss. Compared to more saturated yellows, PMS 459 C is less intense and easier to integrate as a background or supporting color in branded environments, reducing risk of overwhelming other design elements.

Similar colors:

PMS 458 C: Lighter and slightly more neutral, resulting in a paler and less yellow appearance.

PMS 460 C: Darker and has a marginally stronger golden undertone, making it feel deeper and warmer than PMS 459 C.

PMS 600 C: Lighter and much less saturated, offering a creamier, more neutral yellow effect.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 459 C

Are there any well-known brands or applications that use Pantone PMS 459 C?

Pantone PMS 459 C is a standardized color often selected for brand-facing displays, environment graphics, and marketing installations due to its subtle yellow warmth and readability. While PMS 459 C does not have a widely publicized association with a specific brand, it is commonly chosen in brand standards for applications that require a calm, supportive background color that avoids harshness. If you are matching an existing branded element or guideline, always confirm that PMS 459 C is the exact color specified, as similar Pantone yellows can differ noticeably in final use.

How do I find the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for paint in Pantone PMS 459 C?

The Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for Pantone PMS 459 C paint is based on the specific paint product or type, not just the PMS color code itself. To find the SDS, first identify which product format you are using, such as spray paint, water-based coating, or other options. Then visit the SDS library or product documentation for your selected paint type. If you need an SDS for a custom-matched PMS 459 C paint, refer to the information provided for that base product on the supplier website or request it during your order process.

What is the difference between the Pantone PMS 459 C name and code, and how do I order the correct color?

The Pantone PMS 459 C name and code both refer to the same color target, but the code 'PMS 459 C' is the exact identifier used for ordering and specifying this standardized color across vendors and materials. When placing an order, always use the full Pantone code including any letter suffix to ensure you receive the correct color. This avoids confusion with similar Pantone yellows or nearby codes. If your brand standard specifies PMS 459 C, provide that full code wherever color accuracy is required in your display or marketing applications.

Do I need a primer when applying Pantone PMS 459 C paint?

The need for primer when using Pantone PMS 459 C depends on the paint type, the material you are coating, and the expected durability. Primers improve adhesion and color uniformity, especially over bare substrates, porous surfaces, or when making a significant color change. For best results and optimal coverage, follow the primer recommendations for your selected paint product. Light yellows like PMS 459 C may show translucency, so a suitable primer can help achieve consistent, brand correct color in fewer coats.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 459 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 459 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 459 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 459 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 459 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
