Pantone™ PMS 301 C

For prototyping or concept models where brand alignment is important, PMS 301 C paint is best used when you evaluate both the paint and the physical Pantone reference under the lighting and finish planned for final use. Choose a paint format such as spray paint or paint pens based on the material and detail level of your prototype. Prototypes should be tested for appearance against the Pantone guide to confirm visual accuracy, as finish and lighting can alter how PMS 301 C is perceived. Sampling helps ensure your model aligns visually with brand requirements before scaling up to production or presentations.

Pantone PMS 301 C matched paint is custom made to order. Because custom paint is produced specifically for your request, it cannot be returned or exchanged if you select the wrong type, sheen, or format. Carefully confirm your requirements, including finish and material, before ordering. We recommend ordering a sample size or test panel when working on critical branded projects or when evaluating PMS 301 C for the first time in a specific application.

PMS 301 C is a dark, highly saturated blue with a low light reflectance value. Due to its vividness and low LRV, achieving full, uniform coverage may require multiple coats, especially over lighter or uneven surfaces. For best results, plan for sufficient paint and allow each coat to dry fully before applying the next. Sampling PMS 301 C on your intended material and under project lighting conditions will help you estimate the number of coats needed for a consistent, brand-accurate finish.

PMS 301 C can be used over metal or powder-coated parts for brand projects, but surface preparation is key for accuracy and adhesion. Existing coatings, gloss, or texture on the substrate can affect both color appearance and final sheen. Ensure proper cleaning, and if required, scuff the surface to promote paint adhesion. Always test PMS 301 C paint on a sample part to verify color accuracy and performance under your intended lighting and application method before full-scale use.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

To make spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 301 C. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 301 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
