PMS 2707 C is part of the Pantone PMS system, which is a standard for brand and specification color communication. This color visually presents as a light, subtle bluish-violet with a restrained and clean appearance. It is associated with a gentle, modern, understated, and technical vibe and is often used to evoke freshness or clarity without strong saturation.

PMS 2707 C appears notably light in value, supported by a high light reflectance (LRV 62.16). The color has a cool tendency due to its blue-violet hue. PMS 2707 C exhibits low-to-moderate saturation, reading as distinctly soft and pastel rather than vivid. The undertone is subtly bluish with a slight violet influence, presenting more blue than purple on most surfaces. The color is moderately sensitive to finish: gloss can increase perceived vibrancy, while matte will accentuate its chalky softness.

PMS 2707 C is suitable for use where a light, non-dominating yet present blue-violet accent is needed—often in brand guidelines calling for gentle contrast or a softly technical look. Evaluate under intended lighting, as cooler artificial light may enhance the blue aspect, while warmer lighting can mute its vibrancy. Compared to other light blue-violets, PMS 2707 C is less saturated and reads cooler and cleaner. Coverage is typically good, but lighter pigments may sometimes require additional coats for even hide on dark substrates.

Similar colors:
PMS 2706 C – Similar hue but lighter in appearance and slightly less chromatic.

PMS 2717 C – Slightly more saturated and appears more vivid than PMS 2707 C.

PMS 2716 C – Reads warmer due to increased violet content and shows a little more chromaticity.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2707 C

How is Pantone PMS 2707 C used to ensure brand consistency in marketing and display projects?

Pantone PMS 2707 C provides a standardized target for brand color, allowing design teams, fabricators, and vendors to communicate and reproduce a consistent blue-violet across different materials and applications. Specifying PMS 2707 C in your marketing or display projects ensures everyone is aiming for the same visual result, helping reinforce your brand identity wherever the color appears. For the most consistent results, always clarify if the Pantone swatch, print reference, or painted surface will be used for approval, and evaluate samples under the same lighting and finish as the final installation.

When is a primer required for painting with Pantone PMS 2707 C?

The need for a primer when using Pantone PMS 2707 C depends on the substrate material, whether it is new or previously finished, surface condition, and the selected type of paint. Primer is typically recommended on bare, porous, or dark surfaces to promote adhesion and help the light blue-violet color achieve full coverage. Some substrates and pigments may also need a primer for optimal brightness and uniformity. Review the guidance provided for your specific product and surface, and consult with your production team if unsure.

What durability should be expected when applying PMS 2707 C as spray paint?

The durability of Pantone PMS 2707 C spray paint depends on the combination of paint system, surface preparation, possible topcoats, and exposure conditions. For demanding applications or high-traffic environments, it is important to select an appropriate paint type and consider adding a compatible clear topcoat for extra protection. For display or short-term installations, standard spray paint may be sufficient. Viewing the paint under final lighting and following all substrate and prep guidelines will help ensure consistent appearance and performance.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 2707 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
